I keep hearing about how AMD drivers suck, and how Nvidia is more stable. I recently upgraded from a 4870 to a 560 Ti and found it to be the exact opposite. I never had any issues with the AMD drivers, but have tons with Nvidia's. Both the 270 and 275 versions left me with a lot of artifacts and screen flashes, so I had to roll with the drivers that came on the disc with my card to get it stable (266 version). Seems somewhat amazing to me because I never used to have issues with nvidia drivers, and kinda got used to hearing how bad AMD drivers were.

What was frustrating is I initially assumed it would be a temp/oc issue, but it was all over the place at stock clocks and low temp. Amazing that I almost tried to RMA the card when a simple driver swap seems to have cured the issue. So much for improving with updates :(

(caveat: I understand that some of you will not have any issues to report with those drivers...I am happy for you. For me, I am not impressed.)
 
I never really have issues with the whql driver releases.. at least the newer ones.

The only thing I don't like about the newer Nvidia drivers is that certain games seem to have worse picture quality then when I was running an ATI card. Sky and other transparent stuff in Crysis for example.

If you are having artifacting, it could very well be that your card is faulty even if an earlier driver revision seems to fix it.
 
I've had problems with both cards. It really depends on the driver release and what games you play. I've found the 275.33 drivers that were just released are pretty reliable on my setup, though. :)

I have had problems with AMD until my most recent purchases of HD 6950.

I am using 11.4 Preview and 11.5 CAPS and have had excellent results.

I'm using the latest nvidia drivers on my second computer and they work just fine as well.:D

I'll never forget the problems with Matrox cards crashing as soon as the two-headed giant (Ettin) loaded in the underwater city in Baldur's Gate II. I placed an 11-year curse on Matrox for ruining my gameplay experience, so they should finally be producing something relevant within the next year or so.
