Well last night I saw cod4 multi on the desktop and I thought hell its been a LONG time so lets fire it up.
I joined a few servers and it was a blast.
then I joined a server and it kicked me saying previous pb ban for something about VGA hack or something. WTF
I have never been banned in cod4 and have not used any vga hack. and this site says I am kicked for a previous pb ban. IF that is so how come its the only site I see this on?
Doesn't pb ban mean all sites?

I think the servers have to update their MBL (master ban list) but if you're banned on one, it's only a matter of time before you're banned on all Pure (PB enabled) servers.

Let me guess, you also have a brother/relative/friend that plays on your computer or that you've loaned the game to?

so if a cheater uses the same name as me I can get banned? theres gotta be more to it

goes buy GUID either someone jacked yours or you have an asshole brother that plays and acts like a douche when your not looking.

It isn't your name but unless you have your GUID memorized (if you do then you should be banned and attend therapy) it's easier to search on your name or your 'brother's' name.

sadly I was among some people in a fps community that could recognize a couple of gamers by guid (I didnt memorize it but I could recognize their GUID)
most of the l33t players aliased outside of matches so it was kind of a hobby to see which big shot players you were actually playing against in a pub

Reminds me of people selling low UID's on Steam... People used to treat that damn number like Viagra for your E-peen..I had some fool offer me $75 bucks for my account one time

not on the ban list.
And I have not played the game for over 6 months. And that one server says previous ban.
I don't get it at all.

no one but me on this computer

Sparks...

Could be that PB needs to update on your pc? You can force it to update by binding it to a previously unused key...

just hit your ~ and type in...

/bind j PB_SV_UPDATE

Where j is what ever unused key you'd like to use....this will force an update.

Or...you we're banned from a single server from a mod for some reason...this happens.

Personally, I wouldn't sweat it, there's plenty of servers to play on.

Best,

I've seen low steamID's go for 400+ bucks, multiple times. The :1337 SteamID was sold and resold so many times for so much probably more than 5 grand was spent on that steamid.

what's considered a low steam uid?
Generally 6 digits or less. The less digits, the more valuable your steamid is. If you have a 4 digit steamid you can probably sell it for 300+ bucks. And yeah it's against Valve's TOS, and there are also a lot of scammers - so unless you know what you're doing I don't recommend it.

A few stupid kids buy low steamIDs and then use them while cheating in leagues, as in competitive play the lower your steamID the less chance someone will call you out or be suspicious of you. Also, some clans refuse to scrim against teams whose has a player(s) with an 8digit SteamID (unless it's a LAN proven 'known' player). It's kind of silly, though I have to admit during a match if there's a player on the opposite team who's tearing your team a new asshole with his brand new 8digit, I also get suspicious as well - though I tend to give all players the benefit of the doubt until I watch the demo.

go find a pb admin, they may find more info about the ban or just post the 8 character guid here

otherwise just spend the $15 on a new cdkey for some asia website.

Some other interesting info. The 2 digit IDs belong to Valve employees - though a couple of them leaked out and have been passed around/sold for $1,000+ multiple times.

The 3 digit IDs belonged to some Valve employees, some belonged to Steam beta testers - many leaked out and I've seen those go for $700+ multiple times.

Many CS pros have 4-6 digit IDs, which is probably what made low digit id's go up in value in the first place, when kids see all the famous players with 4-6 digit ids they want one and go get mummy's credit card. 4-6 digit ids go from 200 bucks up usually.

Medium 7 digit IDs (5mil+) are those players who started signing up around 2004 or so (the year HL2/CS:S was released) back in third quarter 2004 (many players complained about having to use steam for a single player game back then). HL2/CS:S created one of the quickest/largest surges in the Steam playerbase size, as those games were geared towards the mass markets. CS:S and CS1.6 though are primarily responsible for Steam's initial success, success being players who ran steam regularly or always had it running (as many people who played HL2 never used Steam again)

7 digit IDs don't go for much based on the ID alone, the value of the games on it will be worth more than the ID itself. Unlike say a 4 digit steamid with only one cheap game on it can go for 400 bucks.

8 digit IDs have been around for a couple years, so even though it's quite possible for a pro CS player to have started on one, most of the pro CS players who are on a 8digit are using an 8-digit because they sold their previous ID for hundreds or thousands of dollars.

Yea i used to play a lot of CS a while ago and I have a 5 digit steam uid. Never got above cal-m. I wouldn't sell mine though. Thanks.

my steamid is 3*** had a 1*** one but my eamil got hacked back in the day
