**I apologize for any bad grammer, Captain Morgan is Talkning**

anyways.

So My boss gave me an 8800 GTX for making his computer quieter. Acutally I ordered him a X1950 Pro with a Zalman and some other stuff to make the wife happy and he gave me the left over parts which included an 8800 GTX and an Antec P160 Case.

So i decided to replace my X1900XTX (which i love so much) with the 8800 GTX. I did and suddenly i was getting bsods and the mic was cutting out in BF 2142 (we know taht is a major problem for mEE1!) So I figured the problem was the 8800 was pulling to much power.

So like all of you would have done, I put in more POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Edit: ps when i removed the X1900XTX i decided not to water cooler the 8800 until the R600 is realeased. I am ing to get teh R600 and didn't want to have to buy morewater blocks then i had to that is why there is a GPU water block haging down in my loop.

But unlike most of you I added a PSU. check out teh setup now:

The 2nd PSU is powering:
1. Half the 8800 GTX
2. The two optical drives
3. The Water Pump.

The mic problems are now gon3!!!!

Original PSU: OCZ Powerstraem 520 (Dont' get me wrong the PSU hanlded more then it should have ever been able to it is a great PSU)
2nd PSU: Antec 420.

just a few questions:

1. what psu do you have now
and a little ot, did you notice a big diffrence in 2142? (I have almost the same setup,2.6 amd and a 1900 xtx)

Well originally i had an OCZ Powerstream 520.

Now I have that PSU and an antec 420 working togather to poer the rig.

"Did I notice a big difference????"

First off my CPU is at 2.6 like yours. Second When I had the X1900XTX i was able to play BF2142 at full quality. (And I am not just playing for looks I place top 5 every game). The only difference with the 8800 GTX is taht the fences look a bit better wit hteh new AA and AF. So if you are looking for better performance only for BF 2142 do not upgrade. If the cost for the card is worth the uality then go fo it.

The only thing missing from that pic, and possibly the most important..is a FIRE EXTINGUISHER......

LOL.....

And buy one real PSU and you wont need to worry about stuff like this :)

Where is the closest fire extinguisher?

I've seen 3 of those Antec PSUs go up in flames. Not just the smoke and sparks you usually get when a PSU dies, but actual flames coming out the hole for the fan.

**edit**

Damn, Crosshairs beat me to it!!

maybe you can move the rad to the front(if you have room) and just mount the second psu on the bottom?

had lag spikes in 2142 in really bussy areas, will prob upgrade to a P965-S and keep the xtx

This setup needs to hold me over until the PCP 750 Silencer has the 8 pin pci2 power connecter. That is the PSU i will buy but not until it has the 8 pin connecter.

I called PCP and they said that within a month the PCP 750 will have the connector.

I could put hte PSU in the case but the RAD is in the way. I don't want to move the RAD because it will affect the cooling.

I tend to like to run all the "system" off one psu, and all the "side items" off the 2nd one. Your watercooler, and all those fans, could be shifted to one PSU, and then you could run the ENTIRE 8800gtx off the other along with mobo, ram, and harddrives.

Technically, you didn't put "IN" more power. My rule of thumb is if the computer isn't portable the way it is (i.e. all you have to do is unplug the external cables, like keyboard, mouse, network) then it's not a viable build. Your psu is hanging outside your case, and therefore, gets a big nix from me (not that you care, of course, i'm just saying, I wouldn't do it that way)

But, as mentioned by others.. just get one good psu, and your problem is solved

I'm running quad core, 8 gb ram, and at last count, 7 harddrives off of a single PSU

does the 8800GTX have a different connector than the 8800GTS, I hadn't noticed a difference. I'm running an 8800GTS off a PCP&C 750. I had an 8800gtx for about 2 days, and i don't remember a problem plugging it in.
