Okay, here's the story...I installed the 2 cards correctly on the board, switched the sli chip thing to the sli side and latched it in, used the sli connector thing on the video cards...both cards work i tried them individually in each PCIe slot, when I go into window it recognizes them as SLI'd because it tells me to enable SLI and restart the computer which I do, then I go back into properties and I know it sees both cards because it gives me individual temp readings for each card...now the problem is when I run 3dmark 05 i get the same damn fps and score as a single card..help!!!!!!!!!1 also i have the latest drivers installed so that isnt it...whats going on and what can i use to tell if SLI is working in games or not?

try updating your bios? I had the same problem and a few updates helped me out.

I'm on the latest bios for my motherboard.... 3.4 ..do you think I should go back?.... and also the bios versions on my video cards are the same I checked and flashed...

Did you enable SLI in the advanced video properties? Should be under or around the the temp. tab. Also what Motherboard do you have? Asus or Gigabyte?

Mad,

just a few obvious things..

when you reboot does the Multi-GPU stay checked?

To verify SLI is indeed working turn on Show GPU Load balancing.. and then startup whatever you want to run..

you should have a Green overlay indicator, on the left side you will have 2 bar graphs (one stretching down from the middle and one stretching up from the middle), these will go up and down to indicate GPU load (the bottom one is for your secondary GPU)..

there will also be a green line splitting your screen to indicate the SLI split point, in AFR mode it will always be in the middle, even though it is rendering every other frame). for SFR, this line will move up and down depending on the scene..

one thing to look for in 3dmark is, the load bar graphs should always be "pegged" or full, if they are not this indicates that something else is limiting the Framerate, and your SLI cards are not running at full capacity.

whenever its in question whether the SLI is workign for a particular title, i turn on this load bar graph.. if the app you are running is not enabling your SLI, no load graph will be displayed.

hope this helps.

H[street] I think we're getting somewhere... multi-gpu always stays checked, but...

"...one thing to look for in 3dmark is, the load bar graphs should always be "pegged" or full, if they are not this indicates that something else is limiting the Framerate, and your SLI cards are not running at full capacity..."

I do get the bars north and south of the middle green line so i guess it technically is working....but the bars are NOT always "pegged" ...what gives?!?!! how do i fix ?!?!11

and my fps doesnt go higher than around 30 in 3dmark 05 ...i think i should be getting close to 50 --60 at the highpoints with SLI enabled..

Dont leave me hanging HStreet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Well, if push come to shove just because you're cards are new and fresh from the factory doesn't always mean they are in full working order if you have a warranty, retern them for a new pair... just wondering what cards do you have? maybe just do a compleat reinstall of all you're software, sometimes things just get messed up for whatever reason.

did you select the 3dmark 5 profile in your video control panel and make sure your memory timings are correct , for some reason i was getting a 100% drop in performance in the 3d mark when my timings were in auto and when i went manual my two Ultras (at the time) rocked . Not sure how system memory affects sli performance but I could turn the performance on and off via the ram timings

They are in auto in bios and correctly displayed as 2.5 3 3 8 on post.......but i can try and set them manually to those numbers

SLI does work cause I do get the bars north and south of the middle green line so i guess it technically is working....but the bars are NOT "pegged" at full...what gives?!?!! how do i fix ?!?!11
