For those of you with way too much money, how bout a 7800GTX SLI shuttle box?

Looks like they got rid of the need for the special SLI heatpipes, and it supports the 7800 series cards in SLI. I would love to have one of these with 2 7800GTs. But I'm sticking to my guns, and refusing to upgrade from my SN45G until I can get another SFF with SoundStorm. I'm probably going to be waiting a while. :)
 
What is the pricing of the SN26P? Does it now come with 7800GTX's, or can you buy just the system like with the SN25P?
 
nice. This is what I have been holding out for. I was about to pull the trigger on a sn25p. Glad I waited an extra week.

still uses the Envy24PT onboard sound though i hope they've ironed out the problems that went on with the 25p. There is a new driver out but I'm not sure if they've solved true 5.1 problems yet as my 5.1 isn't set up yet....my Envy hasn't given me problems but i'm not suprised they still went this route rather than go with something from Creative like an on board SBLive! or something
 
what about the power supply? how much wattzorz is it? i know i have read about people having power issues in the sn25p with only 1 gtx and a few IDE devices. 2 seems like it might push the envelope to the edge unless there's a different PS in there.

I put 2 raptors, a deskstar, a dvd+rw, an fx-55, 2 gigs of ram, and a power hungry video card in an sn25p with no power issues whatsoever.

You can't *fit* enough properly working hardware in that box to have a power issue, lol.

QFT

Shuttle makes one of the best psu's for their SFF's. They take everything you throw at them and laugh.
 
God this makes me jealous, wow, what a great design. I threw away my crapolla ECS and went full ATX with a DFI. But wow, nice design, maybe someday I will switch back.
 
Be warned, the fan noise while 3d gaming is going to be nasty with this rig, no way around it.

Took me awhile to get used to the sn25p fans spinning up like a jet plane. That is what I get for putting 3 hard drives in it, I suppose.

Keep your config to the bare minimum, two 7800GTX and a cool/quiet harddrive of acceptable performance.
 
must definitely be the 3 drives burnin up in there... i have 1 x 250GB sata and my fans barely break a sweat with the 7800 at 1600x. are they all raptors?

That is what I was just thinking... Possible room to mod something bigger in their place? There is also Speedfan. ...or headphones! :p

Oh, you can use speedfan to keep the noise down... if you want your hardware to bake.

I stuck with headphones on the sn25p, as you sugested. :)
 
HOW MUCH ARE THE BAREBONES?? damn I've searched everywhere and still only have a vauge idea. $500? hope not but it feels like it might be.
 
That is the key, noise and price.

I had an iWill zmax-DP for 3 weeks but the noise was just terrible and had to return it. It was expensive too ~$700.
 
Yes, the shuttle PSU is great for the SN25P. The SN26P is using the same PSU.

Oh and I have the following in my SN25P with no issues. I just upgraded my video card, and it is still humming along.

X2 4400+ @ 2.6
2GB Patriot Ram
2 Hitachi T7K250 250GB SATA HD
1 Seagate 7200.7 IDE HD
BenQ 1625 DVD Burner
1 evga 7800 GTX

Still running fine. The fans will ramp up if I start gaming though. Otherwise its pretty quiet. I have it on the floor so its fan noise not very noticable.

Can you confirm - the barebone SN26P does not come with the GPU heatpipes?

If purchasing the P2600 System from Shuttle direct with the 7800 GT video cards - does it come with the GPU Heatpipes installed?

Nope, no heatpipes. We were going to offer them, but the feedback we received pointed towards no heatpipes :confused: .
 
why 200 more? it's the same thing except for another pci-e slot and a bit beefier psu right? how is the cost justified? especially with the heatpipe removed. boo by the way on that.
 
It's actually got the same PSU 350W - so the only difference is the MB with the extra PCI-E slot for SLI....without the GPU heatpipes it's definitely not worth it for me!
 
Has anyone seen any of these for sale yet? Or any system builders using them? I was planning a big purchase soon and I was at first thinking of going with just a normal mid tower 3800+ x2 and some 7800 luv but after looking in this sub forum and reading about the new shuttle that supports SLI..... dangit you guys cost me more money!

Only problem is I haven't seen anywhere online that is selling them yet. Linky?

Yikes that is too high. You can buy the upcoming dual Opteron iwill zmax-D2 for ~$700...
 
it costs more because of the physical limitations. it's not "just one more pci-e slot", it's another pci-e slot in a tiny shuttle case, with heating and stuff to worry about. and not having heatpipes is actually a more preferred solution because theres less hassle about needing to add on a seperate gpu cooler etc etc. maybe shuttle should sell those heatpipes as accessories, like the case covers w/ a section of mesh on the side?

and btw, if they had the heatpipes included w/ the barebones case, it'd probably cost even more than it's already going to.
 
hi all,
the shuttle europe site says that the 26 doesnot use the heatpipes with the 7 series. any one can confirm that? it seems they will be using the cards stock cooling. really worried here about the airflow between the 2 cards if you just stick them both in as SLI and fan of one at least sits right in between the card. where does the air come from????? how hot is this gonna get with 2 GTs do you guys think?
