smp running really slow?

Yesterday i had set up the smp client on my quad core phenom 2 and everthing was running fine and hfm estimated 5000 ppd. About a third of the way through the WU the time per frame dropped from 6:30-7 minutes to an hour and a half. ive tried both reinstalling the smp client and using multiple unicore clients but nothing seems to get the ppd back up. I honestly have no idea what is causing this.
 
Could your processor speed have down clocked for some reason? Maybe the cpu got too hot?
 
Use RealTemp and see how your temps are...if they stay steady or if they fluctuate a lot. That should tell you definitively whether or not it's a heat issue.

Did you oc your cpu? What kind of cooling are you using...stock? Aftermarket air?
 
I'm looking at my cpu temp and its around 54C. the cpu is a phenom 2 x2 555 unlocked to 4 cores running stock cooling at default clocks.

temps look fine.. just make sure theres nothing periodically running the back ground like a virus scanner thats set to do a scan at certain times.. but i would also watch temps and make sure its not downclocking due to temp which is what it sounds like to me.. even on my phenom II 940 my normal TPF is 5:43 and when playing a game it goes up to 18:00 TPF so if its going to an hour+ sounds like the cpu is downclocking..

thats kind of what i was thinking but i look and its running full speed.
 
This is a strange problem. I would remove the smp client again and make sure you delete the directory and everything. Reinstall and lets see what it does. If it's still slow then you cpu has to be downclocking.
 
Or may e the unlocked cores are haVing issues. As a last resort try with 2 or 3 cores to see if ppd makes more sense then

Any updates?

I know there have been a couple of bad WUs out there. I got one that was taking over an hour per frame on a rig (laptop) that usually gets 10 min frame times.

I posted something on FF, and they are looking into it. There are others that seem to be seeing the same thing with certain WUs.

I just deleted the WU by deleting the queue.dat and restarting the SMP Client.
 
ive tried different WUs and reinstalling multiple times and its still the same.I think the next thing I'm going to try is the linux client to see if its a windows problem.
 
The unlocked cores could be screwing up as mentioned above. Maybe some more voltage to the cpu.
