One of the SMART attributes on my Crucial C300 128gb SSD drive is called "Grown Failing Block Count". I have 2 of these C300 drives. One drive has '0' for this attribute while the other one shows '8819'.

What does Grown Failing Block Count mean? Should I be worried about one drive showing 8819 for this? Or is this normal? The drive with the 8819 number is alot older than the drive with 0, so maybe this is the reason.

no one knows what this SMART attribute is for?

Also, is there any way to access the SMART info a drive that is in a RAID array using the onboard ICH10R controller? CrystalDiskInfo doesn't show the drives that are part of a RAID array. Is there another program that can do that?

The weirdest thing just happened

Now CrystalDiskInfo is showing 0 for "Grown Failing Block Count" (AA/170) on the C300 drive that was previously at 8819.

Very strange.
