I have been reviewing SSF systems and wanted to ask what is the smallest possible WC rig one could build?

you dont see many SSF WC rigs, at least i havent found many...i assume you need min a MicroATX case? cant go much smaller than that...
 
I don't have the link but some people have done some pretty crazy SG05 wc rigs - albeit some of those project has really made the SG05 something completely different, without going full out custom that would probably be the most small wc setup you could get.

I just finished a Cooler Master Elite 120 SFF WC build, GPU/CPU custom WC loop, build thread here.

You definitely can go smaller than mATX, ITX has great Z77 boards and with parts like Apogee Drive 2 and all the cool micro rez stuff out now it's a lot of fun to get into.

Biggest tip I could give to anyone after building my sff wc rig, use rotary barb wc fittings, rotary is most important here as you could do compression but depending on what tools you need to tighten down the compression fittings it may make the build process a huge pain.

EDIT: here is an sg05 oc.net link, not the one I was thinking of there is a really sweet one somewhere that really pushes the limits of the sg05 wc builds.

Depends what you mean by WC. Some people have used all-in-one Antec 620 or Corsair H60 on CPU or GPU or even both. Any small case with two mounts for 120mm can probably manage that.

What Xyezx did (above) is one of the smallest and a great use of space.

But the most compact full WC design was by Miahallen who got a custom loop into a SG06. This was made in October of 2011, so the 580 was the top GPU of the time. Very clever to put the waterblock partially under the case :)

That's the one I was thinking of, it was the SG06, that's why I couldn't find it :D
 
that is one sexy build and the 05 is dam nice too!, in costa rica it can get hot, so sometimes air isnt doing much for me if i want to OC, also trying to get back into something a little quieter if i can sell my beast

With the Z77-itx there is plenty of choise to go radical with ITX, i can't come up with a reason (for me) to go bigger anymore :) (able to push 5Ghz with good temps, just need some stable settings...working on it)

That looks cool but it's kind of a bummer that the sata ports are blocked, looks like perhaps you could do some modifications on the block bracket to make it all work but idk.

Just went through your build thread and i love it! Great looking build! I really wana do a custom water-cooling setup now :haha

This hobby is getting expensive :D
 
i have sold my main rig! $1100, not sure what i can do with that, but i def know an miniTX based build is on it's way! now to get some cash to consider some WC parts..

what is a full WC rig worth these days, still in the $200-$350 range?

Thanks for compliment! It can be expensive if you do it all at once, careful planning goes a long way as well to keep costs down.
 
hi there

I'm planning to built a full WC SSF in a sugo SG05 with really few mod

I already have a SUGO SG05 with i3570k@4,2 under a corsair h60 and a stock reference PNY 670GTX

I'm waiting for an Antec 620 to mod the 670GTX

We'll see how dual radiator independent WC will manage temps in such a little case
