Is anyone else getting killed by these puny 46/55whatever pointers? That seems to be ALL I'm getting, on my G5 here I use to get an assortment of 241pt tinkers and some 1xx pt Gromacs, now, all I get is groMACs on my mac? Aghh,

5th in a row for me. :(

I thought I had something when I had that 600 pointer of mine. But since then I have 46 pointers. Even my naked Dell is on 46 pointers.

5th! That's it! my G5 has had 32(16 for each processor) in a row! And here's something funny, I have 2Gb of Ram, but....

Code:
[15:07:40] - Preparing to get new work unit...
[15:07:40] + Attempting to get work packet
[15:07:40] - Will indicate memory of 4294965248 MB.
[15:07:40] - Connecting to assignment server
[15:07:40] Connecting to [url]http://assign.stanford.edu:8080/[/url]

You Mac users shuld be glad you're getting Gromacs; at least from what I remember. I thought Macs sucked ass on Tinkers but did decent on Gromacs. Sure, normal Gromacs aren't as nice at the big packet ones, but still.

I've got 7 machines folding, and almost half of all WU's I get are the 46 pointers, divided between p1159 and p2305. Though luckily a few minutes ago my desktop grabbed p2072 for a 206 point unit, and one of my laptops at work turned in a 249 pointer a few hours ago

I just fold what I get. If Vijay has a need... then there is a need.

If I was in this for the points, I'd have been out years ago. ;)

Yeah, I have wondered what has been going on with these. 5 out of my last 6 units have been the 46 pointers.

I've been getting a bunch of those 46 pters too....and they take way too long to fold for the pts :D But I guess they're important too.
Also, I've been getting alot of the new 133pt p2076, which em3 still shows as "unknown".

You need to update EMIII's emprotx.dat file.
Mines shows up correctly.

Luck........... :D

It’s not the points!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s work you complete. Each work unit has a purpose no matter how big or small.

Besides, all those little ones add up really fast.

I was wondering where you were Bill. I was starting to wonder if you read the forums anymore. :p

No you arent the only one getting little bitties.

Half my computers over the past couple days
have had sub 100 pointers.

Me too, so far that seems to be all that my machines are doing. It has been almost 5 days since I turned in a unit over 100 points. On the 25th, cranked off 5 units for a grand total of 235 points.

i have noticed it seems that at the begining of the month i get knocked down in my ppd by probably about 25-30% then near the end it seems to be up by about the same margin?

I've noticed that you tend to be sent a new protien from the same server that you got the last one from.
That ok when there are a lot of good protiens to fold but not so good when Stanford releases a lot of small ones.

At the moment I've a mix of Ambers & Big Gromacs so my adverage has gone back up from 1,600 per day when I got a lot of small Gromacs back up 2,000+ now.
My max is around 2,500 points per day on pure Big Gromacs.

Luck.......... :D

I think the protein in question is a newer one, that takes 8-10hrs to crunch.
Now, the dggromacs ones I love. Nothing like spitting out 46 pts every 2 hrs!!! :p

Okay, I know I can't be the only one thinking this...

any more than a double handful is a waste :D

I think we'll just let this statement stand on it's own. No comments are really necesary. :p

I am wondering if it was just a dump of those type of work units. I do not see any more of them on the systems I have and no uploads of them in 16hrs.
