I have a Lian Li g50, Asus P5B deluxe, 6400 cpu, Intel stock HS and want to OC. I put this machine together but this is my first attempt at OC-ing. I have played with increasing the CPU frequency but encounter instability at about 4-8% increase and the CPU core temp goes up to levels that may shorten the life of the CPU (according to what I read).
I have only 90 cm between the board and the PSU in this case, so I need something small but powerful. Any suggestions? Thank you.

There is something very wrong, even with stock HS you should be able to do a 30% OC (around 2.8GHz) before you even need to worry about temps.

The stock intel heatsink requires a LOT of force to seat the pushpins, the are just pushed down HARD, until you hear a click. So hard it hurts your thumb and I dont like to do it with the board mounted in the case due to the amount the motherboard gets flexed/stressed/bent while pushing on the pins. You have to push so hard it hurts your thumb.

Please double check your stock HS mounting.
