Small core upgrade, thoughts?

Thinking about an upgrade of CPU/Mobo/Ram here this week and I've been out of this world for a bit so figured I'd ask for input. Only really playing TF2, CS:S (GO soon) and L4D style games. Can handle everything right now fine enough but upgrade would be nice.

Oringally looking at the i3-2100 Sandy for $120, but thinking maybe switch over to the Ivy Bridge side for another $10? For Ivy what's the practical difference between the i3-3220T and the i3-3220? I see the clock difference just curious what that's about.
Mobo: ASRock Z77 Extreme4. $115 Good to go there?
Ram: G.SKILL Ripjaws X 8GB. $40 until tomorrow.

Planning on leaving 5770 for a few months unless somebody can convince me otherwise how huge a bottle-neck that might cause (if at all). Any good price:value cards I should look into right now though?

well the 3220 runs at 3.3 ghz and a tdp of 55 watts and the 3220t is 2.8 ghz and has a tdp of 35 watts... pretty much what it boils down to
 
The RAM I say buy now.

The only difference between the 3220T and 3220 is that lower clock speed. That lower clock speed means lower power usage . That allows Intel to sell that CPU at the same or higher price than similar Intel CPUs as they will be marketing it as "low power CPU".

Please answer the following questions:
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
6) Will you be overclocking?
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? UEFI? etc.
 
Ivy Bridge is faster clock to clock as compared to Sandys i3's. You should surely go with the i3, if not that, then a Quad of the Sandy, notably i5 2400.

The Extreme4 is good but not so much for heavy OC's. As the processor that you're choosing isn't an unlocked one, get a H77 motherboard and save a bit more.

Memory sticks are good enough.

Great I think I can handle the extra 20 watts a billing cycle lol.

Thanks for following up on the clock difference.
Really am just looking for general upgrade advice, current rig handles everything I need but had a little extra spending money for this. Ideally some hardware I can upgrade into if need be, reside in northern WI, no worries about case/psu/hd/lcd... (just core stuff), no need for OC here, run 1680*1050 on 22" (upgrade to 27 might be coming up), no features requested besides a good quality:performance value.

Will check out the 77, won't be needing OC so thanks for suggesting that route.

Ok, I still need to know what case and PSU you have. No offense to you but I've learned throughout the years here on the forum to not trust OPs when they say they have a good PSU or Case as a lot of the time they don't. So again please at least tell us what case and PSU you have.
