I've been researching to build a media center and file server PC in one. I would really like this to be a slim-line PC. So far, I've picked out all the components except the case. I'm shocked that there aren't that many out there to chose from and the ones out aren't that good.

On Newegg, these are the only ones that fits this criteria:

I've narrowed it down to these 3:

Rosewill R379-SM Black/ Silver 0.8mm SGCC Steel MicroATX Slim Case Computer Case PSU ATX12V Flex 300W Power Supply

APEX DM-318 Black Steel MicroATX Slim Case Computer Case ATX12V Flex 275W Power Supply

APEX DM-387 Black Steel MicroATX Slim Case Computer Case 275W Power Supply

I've read all the reviews and all seems average across the board. Nothing stands out as being that great. One major problem is that all these cases only have 1 SATA power connector, and idealy, I'd want to fit up to 3 SATA drives in it. Can anyone recommend one over another? Am I dreaming too big for a slim-line case?

Edit: Brand wise, the only other choice is the Antec NSK1480, which I rather have, however, I can't find it on any e-tailer.

I move around plenty, my P180 case is big enough to haul around, I don't need another one.

It is a newly announced/released case. So of course you're gonna have some problem finding it. Though I found one here:

Oh and if slimline isn't a major factor, you might want to check out the Antec NSK1380 and Antec Minuet 350 as well. Both are pretty compact cases and are very portable. Do note that Minuet 350 can only fit at most 2 hard drives. Then again all the slim-line cases you chose can only fit a max of two drives anyway.

Speaking of all the Slim-line cases you chose, they all use Allied PSUs. Allied is well known for making really crappy or out right shitty PSUs. Wouldn't trust one in any kind of system.

That's what I feared, a crappy power supply. I'll think about the Minuet 350 but it's a bit expensive with $20 shipping. The more I look at these cases, the more tempted I am to build my own out of plexiglass. Thanks for the help.

Check out the Chenbro SR21469. It can hold 3 HDs and is a bit smaller than the Antec Minuet. This PDF has some additional info on specs. Newegg doesn't stock it but you can get it from CensusPC.

That looks pretty good, but what make of the power supply is it? Unfamiliar brand + no name power supply...

you may not be familiar with chenbro for desktop cases but they are a pretty popular brand for server cases. I think Zippy is the OEM for their power supplies, you are probably better off asking for yourself in the PSU forum, or @ johnnyguru.

Newegg created a new section not long ago called "HTPC/Media Center cases" there you will find more slim cases.
