Hey everyone,
I'm going to be building a new computer shortly and was hoping to get some opinions on hardware requirements. I'm looking into potentially running 3 monitors for Skyrim and was wondering what you guys think I would need for graphics card/s? I don't need to be running on ultra settings, but I do want smooth gameplay on decent graphic settings.

I'm assuming I'd need more than one gpu to run a setup like this. What kind of gpu's am I looking for?

I just need a general idea of what my budget/cards would be. If it's too much then I will be limited to running dual monitors and only gaming on one of them with one gpu.

Any thoughts?

Two GPUs are required to run three monitors on an nvidia setup. Scaling is apparently really bad in SLI (~30-50%) in Skyrim. I'm sure once they figure out their drivers it will get better. I would recommend getting as much VRAM as possible. If it's just Skyrim I haven't seen mine go above 1GB of usage, but other games definitely cross that barrier (Arma 2, BF3, etc).

If nVidia, you're probably going to want to go 560 Ti 2 GB SLI as a bare minimum. Recommended would be 570 or 580 SLI.

If AMD, probably 6950/6970 2 GB CFX, though currently the official AMD drivers don't support CFX for Skyrim.

No, scaling is fine (90+ %). Skyrim can be very very CPU-limited. No surprise there when it apparently scales badly. I play with SGSSAA and it scales just fine.

Wow I misread that in my first try. Okay, thank you

That makes sense. By adding SGSSAA your putting more workload on the GPU's and the scaling pops up. Poor CPU scaling for the win. Console ports...

Then people come to bethesda's aid yelling that this wasn't a console port. If not then how do you explain the horrible CPU bottlenecks even on 2700K cpu's overclocked. Using only 2 cores... :(
