sleeving my cans

I've got a pair of Senn HD-485's and I love them to death. I dont, however, love the cord. It always seems to get tangled and wrapped up in itself. My question is....if I were to sleeve the cord, would that help with the tangling? If so, what should i use for sleeving [links appreciated]? Thanks.

Yes, it would. There are all sorts of things you can sleeve them with.

I use two different types of techflex, depending on the wire. I use both the standard techflex that you see PSU's and stuff sleeved in, and then a nylon multifiliment, which has a thick, cloth life feel to it. It looks and feels great. If I am sleeving a wire that is thick and insulated, I just use the nylon multifilment. However, for thin wires, or ones that are braided, down to the bare wire (after the Y split), I first sleeve them in the cheapo techflex, for a few reasons. It adds a bit of strength, thickness, makes them round, and it is also stiff so that you cable bends naturally. Then, I will put the nylon multifiliment over that, so that the look matches. Works quite well .

FWIW, if your going to go through the effort, might as well just completely re cable them. Are you handy with a soldering iron?

unfortunately i am not handy with a soldering iron, but i am willing to practice and learn. How much does the techflex run and where could i find it? thank you very much for your help!
