I don't see another thread on this...otherwise feel free to delete, mods. Anyway, this just came out. I checked the readme and there doesn't seem to be a section on what was tweaked/fixed since the last update. Anybody know?

I installed 1.2 straight away and had my 360 controller inputs messed with. This time I won't install it until I get the OK from you guys...particularly those of you who use your control pad.

Thanks

Steam has the patch notes. I don't remember them off the top of my head, but there were some bugfixes and optimizations.

Fixed Radiant Story incorrectly filling certain roles
Fixed magic resistances not calculating properly
Fixed issue with placing books on bookshelves inside player purchased homes
Fixed dragon animation issues with saving and loading
Fixed Y-look input to scale correctly with framerate

This came off of techspot.com

This came dirrectly from steam
General stability improvements
Optimize performance for Core 2 Duo CPUs
Fixed Radiant Story incorrectly filling certain roles
Fixed magic resistances not calculating properly
Fixed issue with placing books on bookshelves inside player purchased homes
Fixed dragon animation issues with saving and loading
Fixed Y-look input to scale correctly with framerate

If my dragons fly backwards still imma be pissed! I love the Fixed dragon animation issues with saving and loading...Really We arent stupid bethesda. I highly doubt the dragon flying backwards has anything to do with saving and loading.

Ah-ha! I wondered why my gamepad was getting all screwy when I looked around. How can I restore my y-look input back to where it was?

Yeah I thought they said this patch addressed it...but it isn't in the notes...hmmm hopefully it did fix it.

Well I just found 2 dragons and they both do not fly backwards. I am glad that this is fixed I have not had a chance to check other stuff except for I can not esc out of the items menu. I never really cared about this though.

Lol you just found 2 dragons?

I've played for 17 hours total play time, and I have only seen 3...and one of them was flying backwards so I couldn't ever kill it lol

Wish I could play, but I have eyefinity and they broke it again with this patch...so I have to wait until a fix comes out for it

And it broke all of the eyefinity/surround fixes yet again... Pro-tip - disable your steam auto-update for Skyrim!

Pro-tip - disable your steam auto-update for Skyrim!

For about 90% of the people it still auto-updates...and then re-checks the auto-update button lol...

Seriously...

Only thing to do is unplug your internet before the patch is out...

offline mode is safer... though even that doesn't always stop the patch monster. Still yes, I'm still on 1.1 due to offline mode. Let me know if it's safe to go for 1.3 :D

My game auto updates even if it is unchecked. I have not had any problems with this patch so far...but if I were still on 1.1 I would not patch it because you never know what things have not been found yet. I have only played for 4 hours so far (on 1.3). The good thing is one of my characters is playable again.

FWIW, the dev notes indicated that they were aware of the LAA thing, and another patch was planned next week to fix that.

So...looking good! The game might finally become *stable*!!

Wow...I think I have like 30 dragon souls unused still, and not even all of them gave me souls. I'm guessing I've fought at least 50 dragons. I am a pretty high level, though. Start the main quest, that seems to spawn them more frequently.

or just block it from connecting with your firewall..

Yeah you won't get dragons until you trigger the main story line by fighting the first one at the tower, if you're going to go literally through the entire singleplayer except for the main storyline first like so many people do it's worth not triggering the dragons immediately but rather leaving them until you're maybe 40-50 hours into the game (about half way) then trigger the dragons and you'll get to fight them on/off for last 40-50 hours of the game.

The only problem with that is the whole shout side of things is blocked off until you have dragon souls to unlock them, and you get training and free shouts very early into the main story.

I triggered the dragons about 20 hours in and regret doing it so early because they're more of a pest once you've killed about 20 of them, you have enough dragon parts for a full set of armour and the battles lose their appeal, I think triggering them about 50% of the way into the game is the best balance (assuming you're playing for 100% completion and don't skip any major quest lines)

I noticed the no soul thing as well. I have only noticed at the word walls if I have already defeated the original dragon that was there. Every wild dragon I've come across has given me one.

The wild dragon encounters do get old, I usually kill at least three in an evening of gameplay. Better AI, twice as powerful and half as frequent would be nice.

I saw a mod out there that will convert ten souls into a perk point. Might have to check that out later on.

So, does using showracemenu in the console mess up your stat allocation? (health, stamina, magicka)

I would imagine it does. Why not just try on a fresh save game and then reload.

I like the dragons in the game...they're fun to see flying around etc...the only ones that give me a bit of trouble are the Frost dragons as my Elven fire resistance helps me against the Fire/Blood ones

That would be a sweet mod.

Also, someone mentioned that often times "Dragon"-named dragons will not give you souls, whereas "Elder Dragon" or "Blood Dragon" (or basically any "so-and-so Dragon") will. Which seemed to be the case, except I ran into a random encounter with a normal "Dragon" and it gave me a soul. So who knows.

I still get CTD on hitting F12 for screenshots sometimes. 1.3 is working OK for me, aside from my keybinding issues. There are still many bugs and broken quests to work out, though.

For some reason, this game gets my video card warmer than Metro 2033.

F12 Through Steam? I've been using print screen.

I've noticed the warmer video card also, It doesn't seem to stress it really, I wonder if it is the vram getting pounded.

Yeah I use print screen. Console: "~" "tm" to remove the UI/menu (even hides the console text). Also "tfc 1" pauses the game and let's you freely move around if you want to get a frontal view of your character swinging a sword.

Dragons... I don't get them often at all on lower levels. I think your level also determines their frequency. Triggering the main quest is probably the other part of the equation.

As for dragon souls... I always get them. No matter if it's just a normal dragon. Maybe I use my souls more?

If you don't change your race or sex or presets, it should be ok (maybe preset changes are ok too) ... but you should still memorize your stats and check them afterwords. It will reset your tatoo and skin colors. And one or two other facial dimensions might shift.

Yep, Steam screenshot. It happens maybe 1 out of every 5. My card isn't getting above 78C, but normally games only get it to 68-70C. Airlow :)

Well you can't use certain mods with the 4GB Loader, like the FXAA Injector (I believe).

Either way, it'll be best to have it baked into the normal exe without having to rely on the loader.

Works fine for me and I have a ton of mods installed. Including the FXAA injector.

and they always seem to target the NPCs... I'm running around like a lunatic trying to protect my favorite blacksmith.

the frequency could be toned down, but this is what really gets me.

I'm the friggin dragonborn! Aren't they supposed to hate me? Why do they leave the fight with me to fly around killing bears? ugh.

Dragons are cowardly. They fly around a lake valley turning mudcrabs to ice, when it's me they should worry about. That is, when I can actually hit them, many times they just roar and disappear. And I keep having old dragon skeletons land near me when I exit a cave, etc.

Yeah, it actually gets to be an annoyance. So many fecking dragons, and they always seem to target the NPCs... I'm running around like a lunatic trying to protect my favorite blacksmith.

I personally think they should have spread the dragon encounters a little thinner. It used to be special, but now I loathe them. Stupid game doesn't let the dragon see me half the time (I'm high stealth tree), and when I finally manage to land a dragonrend on the mofo, he lands somewhere inaccessible. By the time I get there dragonrend has expired, and so the cycle continues...

lmao this reminds me of how alvor died in my game, he was all like "I could make a warhammer that would crack open a dragon's head like a walnut", then 5 seconds later we step outside and he gets wtfpwned by another one of their troll dragon spawns.

RIP alvor, see you in sovengarde. this guy gave me endless stacks of free iron and steel when I was just a poor noob foraging the land.

I think I'm at 95 hours played and have 6 dragons. Either my game is bugged or I am just really unlucky compared to you dragon whoring guys...dammit Also, with this latest patch, I actually got a dragon last night, (while I was killing a giant no less), and after killing him, I didn't even get a soul...damn....

probably need to do more of the main quest? ~41hrs in, I have killed a shitload of dragons it seems like. Random guess would be at least 20.

I've been messing with settings in my ini files since the game being released, changing and experimenting with related settings and trying to get distant LOD like mountains to stop 'fluttering' when I move toward them. The other issue is that outdoor shadows like the one my character casts on the ground as well as the ones on my face and armor (self shadows) look like very low-res garbage. I can't seem to fix that, and I've used numerous suggested settings as well as the Geforce tweaks. I've even gone so far as to replace my own ini files with supposed 'fixed' files that someone else made. I don't know if this can be totally 'fixed', but is there any way to alleviate it and stop the distant mountains from z-fighting and to sharpen up shadows on just about everything? They look positively putrid. Now that I've patched to 1.3 and then rolled back to 1.1 I see decent object and texture pop-in, with settings still maxed. I'm getting the feeling my current game has been through too much and I should start over with a fresh install... Any clues?

Thank you. I have a GTX 580 3gb model with Nvidia 285.79 drivers.

^^ i gave up on trying to make the self shadows and shadows cast on NPC's when they're there talking to you, because it totally kills it haveing these blocks weirdly moving on their bodies...

hopefully the modding tools will let people fix this eventually, but everything i tried also amounted to jack shit.

Look that over, especially the advanced tweaks section.

That's a broken link to the Geforce guide, that I have already gone over several times. Am I supposed to set my ini files to read only or something?

Does this patch fix the keys in the inventory menus? I went to 1.2 but I didn't know what button was "drop" or "store" so I had to use my 360 controller whenever I wanted to store items or give items to my follower. The screen never updated with the new key. It would say "R" to craft something but that didn't work so I just mashed keys until I found out that it was now "D". That didn't work for storing items; I never found the key so I'd use the 360 controller.

Not for me, still broken.
