singularity

That video is the ending spoiler, don't watch if you're interested in the story / end game sequence.

Yea...I'll be picking this one up. Been waiting months for it lol...looks pretty interesting

It borrows a lot of elements from Bioshock and Cryostasis, but the end result is a pretty mediocre title. I wouldn't recommend spending $50 on it.

It's not bad. It's got a good atmosphere and doesn't rely as much on cheap scares as say Doom 3 does. The storyline is a bit muddled and even after seeing all 3 endings I'm still not exactly sure what happened or how it happened. That and it's too easy. Like way easier than even Bioshock was.

one would think if you pirate the game you should try a little harder to say something nice about it.

I'll be getting it.

Since when do software pirates ever show any regard for anything other than their own stingy, selfish bullshit "needs"?

By that logic, reviewers should praise games because they get it for free?

Man, this sounds miserable... several minute lag time with texture loading and a horrible FOV being confirmed by multiple people?

Why does it seem like virtually every potentially good title is ending up being a massive let-down and/or continually pushed back recently?

I was greatly looking forward to Singularity, but now I wouldn't touch it, between the texture loading time being ridiculous and a horrible and unchangeable FOV. Scratch yet another title off the list for this year for me...

engine problem.. not game problem. every unreal3 game suffers from this. Its a console engine. its ment to load fast and textures load as you play for faster loading on consoles. also for you people bitching about the fov. get on the 16:9 monitors then and stop using the crappy 16:10's.
It's a byproduct of the way the engine works, but the texture streaming clearly isn't implemented properly if it is taking minutes for the textures to load in rather than seconds as is typical for UE3 games.

It's a review.. No one should listen to it any anyways. The best reviewer is yourself.. Who cares what others say.

Yes, When I load a ut3 level I have low res textures for two seconds and it springs to high res.

I had the same problem in bioshock
and I had the same problem in singularity
But its only 3 seconds max, not minutes.

and my system is pretty mediocre.

Singularity > bioshock btw

gamereactor swedish big magazine gave this a 9 of 10

good:
Wonderful environments
Smart enemies
Fun weapons
Varied maps
Tough timemechanism
Cool bosses
Well written story

bad:
Boring intro
Very linear

Any more details on this game? IGN gave it a pretty poor review, but I personally love Time Manipulation in games, so the fact that this game is based around a time manipulation device sounds cool.

Has anyone played it yet? It comes out today I think.

Mostly seeing and hearing good things about this. I haven't run across a review yet lower than a 7 or an 8/10 on average across all platforms. IGN gave it a 7/10 which isn't exactly poor but kind of meh.

I'd like to try a demo before making a decision.

IGN Basically said the Time Manipulation Device is really cool, but only works on certain objects in certain spots, which seriously deflates it. If thats the case, its a big downside for me. That TMD would be awesome to play in a sandbox-like environment where any object can be toyed with.

The game is awesome. of course I loved timeshift, which it seems like others have hated. It is very linear, also very easy for probably the first 1/3 of the game, up until some spiders, which were a huge annoyance. Some great bosses. Upgradeable weapons, which are well balanced, except revolver, which I don't understand, since SMG is better in all stats. Also augmentations, although not enough selectable slots for the optional mods. Texturing is an issue in some places, as stated. The story is great so far. It is somewhat like bioshock/fallout 3. Of course you get to kill russians, which is getting old, video games need to find something other than killing russians, nazis, north koreans or middle easterners. The game tells the story in a fresh and interesting way. Overall I am really enjoying it. Reverse physics are also pretty awesome.

My suggestions: I would like to see the game more balanced for PC. (I suspect easy mode is for consoles, and yeah, I turned off aim-assist). Along with that I would like to see weapon lockers at the beginning of save points for the bosses, instead of at the end of previous levels. This never really was an issue, but it would be good if the game made some weapons to be more effective than others against bosses - AND if you died more there would be incentive to use other weapon types. Other complaint would be against health packs. I'd rather see more overwhelming enemies + regenerating health vs less enemies + health packs.

How cool and functional is the TMD? Can it be used creatively and in a lot of places, or only in certain spots?

Ya, it is pretty awesome, spoilish follows, so beware.

1) it can act as a melee blast
2) it can age/renew items (including enemies)
3) it acts as a gravity gun
4) it can throw time slow spheres.
you can only manipulate certain objects, usually parts of puzzles for areas. it works really well.

How does it play on PC? Is it a port from a console, therefore bad controls, or does it work well?

I did not see any issues with the controls, but like I said, I turned off aim assist, and in a lot of places the game could be made harder and more challenging. Most games I die a lot more in normal. In this one I did not, as a result it made the game feel shorter.

I'm really enjoying it so far & playing it on hard gives helps ease the speed of the game. I haven't gotten to the point of using the TMD but I'm looking forward to it.

The game really reminds me of a mix between BioShock 1 & Wolfenstein (newest); which I both enjoyed a lot.

^^ That's probably why I'd get it. Wolfenstein single player was fun and I enjoyed it and I certainly like both Bioshocks.

i feel like puking after 30min of game play.. the FOV is making me sick lol. Not that im saying the game is bad. The game is fun. Just wish i can play longer or change the fov setting without feeling sick

I had to crank the mouse sensitivity way down to ease the rollercoaster motion sickness it was giving me. All in all I love the game, but the voice acting is major CHEESE. Hope there's an FOV fix soon though.

How I wish someone would make a mod or Raven would patch it to have a quick save function!

Whats wrong with the FOV? Some gay console-itis 60 or 70deg or something like Badlands?

Same here couldn't play for more than a hour something is off with the FOV got me all dizzy.

so you gave a mini-review based on watching some guy play it? You watched what, for 8 or 12 hours, so you have a full grasp of the game?

He gave you his opinion in 2 lines of text, He never said he had a full grasp of the game, why are you so defensive over someone thinking a title isnt worth $50?
