You guys might find this interesting. Here's a couple of open-air storage "cases".

For 12x HDs (below) and two rigs (up top):

our boy Spotswood did do pretty well in the mining boom
 
It looks like 8020 stuff, is that what you used?

It's crazy expensive, but you can find some good deals through eBay on it.
 
Hey Spotswood, I would like to see you actually build a system with that, hard drives and all and post pics, if it works out, I may want to do something similar.
 
My question is how hard is it to keep clean? As in keep the dust out?

Probably, the only things collecting appreciable dust on that rig are the components with fans.

My open-air SFF has no more dust on it than what's on the rest of my desk. :)
