Hi,

I have 3 VGA only monitors (LCD 1920x1080). I was running eyefinity off my 5770 and it worked. Now have a 6870....one of the DVI's is digital only, so can I hook up my monitors via analog DVI + 2xminiDP? (Using adapters for each)

I have been searching and searching... Can anyone verify that 2xmDP + 1xDVI-I will work? Diamond MM actually said that it wouldn't.

Mike
ps - yes I was very stupid to buy 3 emachine LCDs with VGA only. : )
pps - but why does the 6xxx series use DVI-D? what advantage does that have over DVI-I - other than no analog signal?

The 6000 series GPUs have only 1 DAC, this means that they can only provide the signal for 1 VGA monitor.

Using DisplayPort to VGA adapters should work.

Still waiting for the second mDP ->VGA adapter. Painful.

Here's another question - if I want to run games at 5760x1080, would it be better for me to get a faster 1GB card, or XF two slower 1GB cards? I'm thinking that the XF setup doesn't just add the cards' memory.

No- xfire of 2 1gb cards won't help you in framebuffer size, still a total of 1gb of framebuffer. The only way to help that is to buy a 2gb card. If you have a 5770, a second would be a cheaper option than buying a faster single card.
