I am looking for a case that has hard drives that face towards the side panel. I could always mod the mounts to my liking, but I was curious as to what case options I have.
Don't go and buy a case with the HDD cage pointed the way you want it point theat way yourself. A dremel will cut them loose or a hack-saw for that matter. cut the rivets free with the dremel or use a 1/8 inch drill bit in a drill and drill theem out. Turn the cage sideways drill new holes and re-rivot or get little stainless screws to secure the cage down.
Here is a couple shots of what my 10 yearold did with his case. He bought it from Anamax for $36.00 including shipping and then he went to work on it. It took him about 2 weeks to do the project It turned out to be quite the case mod.
The HDD's ended right where the mobo began which meant there would be Cables right in the way
Once they were sideways all the cables to them are hidden.
The little cover you see over the drives is made out of a piece of wood paneling and painted up to help hide the hdd's

Well hey the point is you can orient drive cages how you want them. You can give a
very inexpensive case great ventilation. you can do pretty much what ever your imagination ,tool supply and skill level will let you do. My son soon pulled out that Epox board with the 3.0C and put it in a system for a small media company. That's right he built and sold a computer to this outfit. Then he put in a Epox 5pdaJ mobo and a 540J 3.2 with a Zalman 9500 and it runs daily at 4211mhz. He is happy for now.
