Show Your LCD(s) setups!!!

I got one of them off of E-bay. Not being a very organized person, it's hard for me to arrange my desktop icons....

Is it wrong that I want to physically harm you for having so many icons?

You win Perfectionist's Seal of Disapproval.

Hell no he didn't. You see those right 2 monitors? They're definately for the perfectionist. I want em!

My first build ever... so here's my modest LCD setup (compared to some of these people on here).

Still working out the kinks of the setup.

What kind of video card are you using to run those dual T221 IBMs?

And are those for personal use or did you need them for some profession?

One is driven by a Quadro FX 3000 using both the dual-link and single-link to get 3840x2400@48Hz. It's driven as 2624x2400 and 1216x2400 using horizontal span.

The other is driven by a Quadro FX 600 PCI using both single-links to get 3840x2400@25Hz. It's driven as two stripes of 1920x2400 using horizontal span.

It's for business use but it's not essential to what I do. I just love how smooth documents look. In reality it's a hindrance to web page layout since I always make the pictures way too big.

This is my home PC rig. A 2005fpw turned sideways for picture. Case was painted using Duplicolor paint and gloss. Notice the reflections in the right side of the case :)

I hate for my second post in this thread to be a second "where'd you get that?" post, but... where did you get that wallpaper from?

i have a 17" sony, not as impressive like that but it's a sony. what i don't like about the sony is the small borders! i think the ibm looks more impressive. beautiful picture quality on that camera.

This is a great thread. Some of you have some great setups/computer areas.

Can you explain that in more detail? If it is ONE monitor, it can only have 1 input, it is Either OR, so how can you have BOTH dual link and single link connected to the same LCD monitor?

Actually, according to the specifications, the T221 appears to have 4 DVI inputs :0

http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/intellistation/t221/features_specs.html

"Signal cable (provided): 2-1.8m; each cable configured with 2 DVI-D connectors (4 DVI total); 9503-DG5 includes separate dual-link DVI converter plus cables "

The T221 comes with 4 DVI interfaces on the back arranged in 2 LFH-60 connectors. Even a dual-link DVI interface doesn't have the bandwidth to drive it at 48Hz (3840x2400x48 = 442MHz). To drive the T221, you can use 1 to 4 of its DVI interfaces. You can get a quad-head card and drive it as 4 x 1920x1200. The older DG3 model requires that all the interfaces be genlocked in quad mode; the newer DG5 model got rid of that restriction but you'll see tearing if you don't genlock.

The DG5 model also supports this external dual-link to 2x single-link converter. I'd call it a splitter instead of converter. In dual-link DVI, the odd and even pixels are transmitted over 2 separate channels. This box merely splits the 2 channels into 2 separate DVI interfaces for the DG5. (Therefore you can't use this splitter to drive 2 separate monitors.) The DG5 internally reassembles the odd/even to form the image. The usual way to drive the DG5 is 2624x2400 with the dual-link DVI and 1214x2400 with the single-link. The graphics card driver is set to horizontal span in order to fool Windows into thinking it's 1 big screen.

Hope this helps.

P.S. There is no visible line separating the "stripes" on the screen. But depending on the graphics card and driver you use, the stripes might update asynchronously.

do u drive a GN..or just a fan em of?

nope, not now.

I use to have two '87 GNs. one was my fast, race car - show car and the other was a daily driver but I had to sell them both due to $$$ back then. :(

but I still am and will always be a GN fanatic by heart. :)

hence the "gn" part of "ozziegn".
