Here is the basics of my current system;
QX6700 H20 cooled w/ Aqua Cuplex XT OC'ed to 3.7
eVGA 680 SLI A1
4GB Corsair Dominator
2 eVGA 8800GTX cooled w/ Aqua AquagraFX & Aquaduct

I use this system for just about everything from COD4, AutoCad, vast spreadsheets and everything else. I have noticed a drop in FR in COD4 from previous games. I could just switch the VC's to 280's but once I dissconnect all of the H2O gear I might as well go for a re-do. I was thinking of going back to a dually, which is possible. However, if I do not, what would you guys suggest? If I elect to stay with a single CPU I have the inclination to change the MB, upgrade the memory and so on. Need some input please.
 
Do you game @ 1920x1200 on your 2405? If so then I'd upgrade to 2x 280s in SLI and forget about it for now. If not then I wouldn't even upgrade the GPUs. Your system kicks ass!

2x 280s in SLI should be a good fit for your system. If you start looking at 3x 280s then the rest of your system will hold things back and you might want to consider Core i7.

Thanks for the reply. I currently game in 19x12 with all eye candy. However, I want to move up to 25X16 and get a 30" display, sorry I forgot to mention that tidbit.
I have been looking at the i7's but I am not sure if I can get a H2O block for that CPU and I am not a fan of air cooling. Thanks again for the input.

You have adequate cpu power for 19x12 even 25x16. Your handicap is the gpu platform. Go with the 280's that's a world of difference better
 
I agree, but do you think I should opt for a ne MB as in the EVGA 790i?

If your current 680i mobo is working just fine, stable and reliably, then stick with it. Besides, going with the 790i would force you to get DDR3 RAM whose prices are still pretty high.

Decided to go for it and order the Asus RE2, I7 Extreme and 2X280's. I am going to order the first week of December and check reviews in the meantime. I need a little more time for my memory decision and deciding upon the Dell 3008 or the Samsung 305T.

Hopefully for you by early December some better deals on 6gb kits will be out there for you too.
