Shops Dropping 20GB PS3?

Are retailers really shunning the 20GB PS3 or is it all a big coincidence? This is the second story in the last month claiming that stores are no longer carrying the 20GB model so you can’t help but wonder.

The 20G-byte version, which costs $500, has been taken off-sale by retailer BestBuy and Sony's own online store displays an error message when the page for the model in question is requested. But despite its removal from SonyStyle the product hasn't been discontinued, the company said.

I was in Target the other day here in Raleigh, NC and there was no longer a place in the display for the 20gig PS3. There was only a price tag for the 60gig version, of which there was plenty.
 
Personally, I think Sony has chopped the PS3 20GB supply off and is refusing to admit it as they wish to try and market as if they were at the $500 price point. They do not want comeptitors advertising to hit them up on how much cheaper their console is, especially with a price cut on the X360 likely for the holidays.
 
Too bad. HDMI is of no value to me (or to the 99% of people who don't have an HDMI capable display), and neither is the extra 40GB hard drive space. Should the PS3 become more desireable in the future, I'd like the 20GB option to remain in place.
 
I have a feeling there will be replacement at $500 if Sony has indeed dropped the 20GB version.
 
haven't seen the 20G models anywhere, futureshop had both models but now they only have the 60G version

You mean wifi right? Since HDMI is included on the 20GB version as well.

You won't find one at Target anymore, we no longer sell them.

As April 1st, the 20GB PS3 is not even in the system or be ordered. It does not show discontinued, backordered, ect... it just does not exist. It may come back later, but right now, we couldn't order them if we wanted to.
