Sharks Try To Eat Google's Underwater Cables

You can stop watching after 20 seconds. Just shows the shark swimming around after the initial bite.

Me: Hey, what's with this lag all of a sudden?

Shark: NOMnomnomnomnom!

"C is for cable, that's good enough for me!"

Needs more salt.

I'm on a forced Vegan diet for a few days, so I know how that shark feels.

I wonder if it just has some kind of coating on it that's appealing, as after all its fiber so no electrical attraction and not shiny. *shrugs* I guess the better term would be "sampling" the cable rather than eating it.

This is what Google gets for using Gentile blood in their cables. Just because it's cheap and has high data capacity does not make it right.

Google coats all their cables in Seal blubber and human blood ... BECAUSE THEY CAN :D

NSA trained shark, tapping into your undersea interwebs. That isn't a fart, it's a data transmission to the surface... :D

That shark know full well how much porn is flowing through that cable, and wants to get some for himself.

I only saw one shark and It bites it once then swims around the rest of the video...

Answer is right in the article.

article said:
“Unlike short-haul terrestrial fiber cables or old copper cables where the fiber did not emit noticeable fields, undersea cables must carry high voltage power to the undersea repeaters, which result in both electric and magnetic fields around and along the cable … Some sharks mistaken the electric fields for distressed fish and attempt to feed on the cable.”

Thread title is misleading. There is only one shark.

Sharks bite things even if they dont know what it is. Usually how humans get bit.

This is exactly right. Also in the case of humans, most "Attacks" aren't actually attacks. It is just the shark testing something unknown. It just happens that for squishy humans a shark "test" is pretty devastating.

Great... now PETA will drop its rallies against SeaWorld and start a new campaign against Google for polluting the minds of sharks with useless cable bits. It's next docu-saga: GreyFish!

Well, looks like Comcast and AT&T are teaming up to keep Google out of the internet market as long as possible.
What the hell, training sharks to eat Google fiber was probably paid for by that half billion they got to upgrade their infrastructures. They couldn't have given it all to tge CEOs and politicians....

I'm not sure this is the best method for arming sharks with lasers....
