Hey Guys,
Im looking to go to a Small Form Factor Gaming rig this time. It will replace my TJ-09 (Ultimate 64) rig listed in my Sig.
So Im trying to get a good Pro/Con on SFF vs ATX for gaming and cooling as well as some suggestions on the i7 vs i9. Im thinking about building it around a 2600k.

I am also looking for some great SFF cases, I like the small version of the P182.

For slots I will be using one for the Graphics card, using on board sound and on board Gig Lan, perhaps leaving having an additional slot open in case the onboard sound or NIC goes out.

Thanks!!

Small P182? Antec P180mini :p

No kidding.

But I'd recommend a FT03 for the sheer 90* orientation alone :) (well, and the fact that I now own one, comming from a P180mini, SG02, 05, 06, 07, HAF932; this is easily the case I like the best).

You're only P67 mATX mobo choices right now are the ASUS P8P67-M and the P8P67-M Pro (I have the Pro variant :)), I think MSI was comming out with one, but I have not see it anywhere, yet. The Pro variant has 3 PCIe16 (though the last is electrically x4 - irrevelent to actual function, but interesting to note nevertheless).

Also, I'm running twin GTX570 in SLI on mine :)

It would help if you answered the stickied "ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS FIRST!" so that we can help you better

There is a SFF variant of the "ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS FIRST" in the SFF section, too! :) But yeah, it would be easier to recommend upgrade paths if you answered them.

Whoa, didn't know the SFF had their own version now. Definitely a modified version of my original questions :)

My bad...revised :p

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming (FPS Mostly) - Online Gaming - Office Stuff - Running VMs

My TJ-09 is way too big...(taking offers :D) So I want something much smaller and powerful, cool in both meanings, and quiet.

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
$500-2k

3) Where do you live?
Kick Ass state of Montana

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
SFF Case
CPU probably stock fan else QUIET aftermarket ok too
Mobo
Memory
New Graphics Card (Planning on NO sli/xfire)
PSU?? I have a Corsair 620 that is QUIET.
***Cool but not necessary stuff ***
SSD (can all my games fit on a SSD? Prolly not) so my guess is the Rig will have to access a slower SATA drive with the OS on the SSD so maybe will skip on this.
Blu Ray Burner

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Corsair 620W -

6) Will you be overclocking?
No

7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
24"

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
0 - 3 months (ie When I pay off the laptop I just got)

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? etc.
Gigabit LAN
Audio
USB 3.0
SATA 6?
eSATA cool but not neccessary.

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Win 7 64bit Pro

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
0 - 3 months (ie When I pay off the laptop I just got)

Try narrowing this down for us.. When we spec a system the parts are all based off of current pricing & deals so we need to know that your buying within about 2 weeks to really be helpfull..

Yeah, cause by month three, Bulldozer will be just about out, and however it performs, and based on time based combo deals, our recommdations may change heavily, or what we recommend may no longer be relevent by then.
