Sexting Teens Face Charges

I like how people refer to his deliberately and intentionally sending the photos to as many people as he could, including her close personal and professional contacts, as "a stupid mistake".

When you accidentally kick the power cord out on your PC, that is "a stupid mistake".

What he did was "a malicious, intentional attempt to ruin another person's life". Call it what it is, folks.

I wonder what would have happened if the situations were reversed i.e. an 18 year old girl maliciously sending nude photos of her 16 year old ex-boyfriend?

Your wisdom and maturity underwhelms me.

I'll be here all week.

I don't think you have a sister, do you? I do. She's 12. If I find out she's sending naked pictures to someone, I'll be sure to make sure: a.) She doesn't do it again and b.) the guy she sent it to gets fucking handled.

But sex offender? Psh, fuck no.

The biggest thing that people failed to discuss in this thread is that these kids met at church. Clearly, we ought to be debating what kind of values these kids have as churchgoing members of society.

Go.

Go where? Church has nothing to do with this. All kinds of criminals have been to a church at one point or another. Some even make their own church. This is not related to the topic.

If the roles were reversed and the guy was the "child", then he again would be prosecuted as an adult and registered for 25 years. The bitch wouldn't even get her wrist slapped. Sexism at its finest.

If the guy was the underaged one I think they BOTH would've gotten in trouble. The guy for distributing the child porn by sending it to her in the first place, MAYBE sexual harrassment if she could get the courts to believe he sent the photo AFTER they broke up, and her for distributing child porn and maybe harrassment.

Also, as loathe as I am to admit it, a female sex offender sounds kinda kinky... :p

<_<

>_>

ANYWAY! Do we have any female members? We need a not-guy perspective on this line of the discussion.

There are no girls on the internet. Everybody knows that!

Yo this kid sent that pic to 70 people.. think about it that's a shitload load of people. He sent it to her parents, teachers, probably her best friends...

This kid wanted to ruin her life, but ended up ruining his. He tried and now he has to take the L.

malicious nub != sex offender

this was my favorite part of the article:

Neighbors have knocked on his door after finding him in the sex-offender database and asked him what he's done.

i totally did that to people around my school.

Call me naive but I don't see how sending nude pictures to thousands even millions of people (it happens all the time--think the internet) as ruining a life. I know if someone had posted a nude picture of me on the internet (or via phone), I'd be embarrassed...my life ruined? Not so much. But I'd be mad that someone had gotten a picture of me nude to begin with--especially without my knowledge. That is key. The girl sent it to the boy voluntarily.

Once again, I'm not defending the boys actions...just the degree of punishment.

hail satan

Easy...go to one of the many sex-offender tracking sites. Here's a main one:

http://www.familywatchdog.us/

Going by the reason they put this kid on the list, I have little faith in a sex-offender list. That taxi cab driver in NY that was busted watching pr0n in traffic is probably on there. Another big reason is that list only has the people who have been caught. The real threats are the ones you don't even known about. They might as well put every single teenage boy on that list, because at one point or another they have looked at an underage girl and had sexual thoughts (the courts wouldn't care if the boy is 12 yrs old or not :p ). Yep, I'm upset about this judgment because now that list seems to near worthless.

I'd take the well-deserved beating before having my entire future permanently destroyed.

The beating might well not be survivable.

Unfortunately this event sets a legal precedent even where penalties are not so richly deserved.

What really sucks is that, when he's in his 40's, his charge will still be distribution of child porn - meaning that all the people who find him on the list will think he's some 40 year old dude with a child porn problem. Which is totally and utterly not the case here, and is extremely obvious - but that simply won't matter.
