Setting up more then 2 GPUs

Needing some assistance on setting up more then 2 gpu's on a single boxen.
I'm assuming that you just keep adding on like the second gpu.
Got 2 running, but the third isn't working.

Here is the message:
At present your GPU is not supported or you nedd a current driver.
You may wish to consider running our standard client,
whick you can download at folding.stanford.edu.

Setup:
K9A2 Platinum
3 - 9600GSO
XP

Shortcut #1:
Name: GPU 1
Target: "C:\Program Files\Folding@home\Folding@home-gpu\Folding@home.exe" -gpu 1
Start in: "C:\Documents and Settings\folder\Application Data\Folding@Home-gpu1"

Shortcut #2:
Name: GPU 2
Target: "C:\Program Files\Folding@home\Folding@home-gpu\Folding@home.exe" -gpu 0
Start in: "C:\Documents and Settings\folder\Application Data\Folding@Home-gpu2"

Shortcut #3:
Name: GPU 1
Target: "C:\Program Files\Folding@home\Folding@home-gpu\Folding@home.exe" -gpu 2

Shortcut #3 doesn't work.

I'm running 3 285s. I copied and renamed the folder to Folding@home-gpu3 and made sure the desktop shortcut pointed to it.

Vista=C:\Users\Randy\AppData\Roaming\Folding@home-gpu

Now that you've edited it, :p make sure you've extended your desktop to a third monitor.
 
I was going to say..... sounds like an extend your desktop problem.
 
Yep, Kendrak is correct. That is the error you get when you haven't extended the monitor the card is connected to.


P.S. Don't mind me I'm losing my mind. :p
 
desktop has to go to every card, should have 3
 
I guess I'll pull the third card and reboot a couple times and hope the drivers reinstall.
 
^ Yeppers.

No need to re-install the drivers. Extend the desktop for the monitor the 3rd card is plugged into. DVI/VGA etc. if using multi-ports for multi-cards.
 
Make sure you have the -gpu x and -forcegpu_g80 flags set for each of the clients.
 
I don't have that -forcegpu_g80 even when I was running a 9600GT for a short time.

From my understanding it forces the clients to see the GPUs as G80s to ensure compatibility. But it seems like the issue is something else (that's what I get for leaving the thread open in a tab for ten minutes and not refreshing before I make a post).
 
Does the system see the third card?

Do you have a monitor/dummy plug hooked up?

Sorry didn't see that, no not in XP.

However, hooking a monitor too the card might get the system to see it. They you can take it off.

Just a guess, but it might work.
 
Yep, XP did load the drivers for the third card. All is well and folding with 3 cards.
WooHoo. Add another 10k ppd to the farm.

Awesome and congrats on getting it worked out! :cool:

Regarding XP, you don't need dummy plugs. I have three multi-GPU systems running without them. One system is running 4x 8800GT cards and there are 8 free DVI connectors behind the case. That being said, dummy plugs can help to get things started. Some systems are a little reluctant detecting hardware so a dummy plug could help extending the desktop. Happened to me once but after getting it working, the plug wasn't needed. Now, Vista and Win 7 are a totally different story, FWIU.
