• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

MAKE SURE YOUR PASSWORDS ARE STRONG. We heavily suggest you make sure that your accounts are updated with WORKING EMAIL addresses immediately. If you have a weak password on your account at HardForum.com it is very likely that we will identify that in here very soon and change it for you. You will have to have a working email address on your account that you have access to in order to get your updated password.

You are required to have a working email address that we accept in order to use our forums.

PW Checker : http://www.microsoft.com/protect/yourself/password/checker.mspx

Google is your friend for finding free web based email that is acceptable.

I haven't seen any vulnerabilities on vBulletin 3.6.8. as of late. Did something happen?

I've updated my email and strengthened my password. But for the record, what are the new requirements for passwords?

Try this:

http://www.microsoft.com/protect/yourself/password/checker.mspx

A strong password should appear to be a random string of characters to an attacker. It should be 14 characters or longer, (eight characters or longer at a minimum). It should include a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.

I don't like that Microsoft checker.. If I don't use a capital letter, I could put an alphanumeric 200 character's long and it shows up as barely adequate on there.

yeah, unfortunately that Microsoft checker won't go above medium without it... making it fairly useless as a benchmark for strong passwords.

Go 8 characters or more with a number and special character.

Ahhhh. Kyle is Mordac! ;)

Actually I think my work used this strip for their guidelines. Except passwords expire every 90 days and you can never re-use a password.

DIlbert FTW!!!!

btw was there a recent security breach? or just strengthening Forum security?

I forgot which common PW I use here.... On is Weak, one is Strong.

Well, at least my e-mail wor- er, bigdown8@aol.com is the only thing [H]F would allow (I've been using Y! as main acct since '97).

Eh, c'est la vie.
