Section 8 Closed Beta

Looks interesting. I wont have time to participate in the beta, so I am expecting to hear how it is.
 
damnit I accidentally chose the wrong amount of memory.. Cant I reset my cookies or something?
 
You will have to put a different email address in too. I just did it again fixed it. i think i put the wrong CPU last time by accident. Got it the 2nd time. Clear cookies and create a new FP account

I thought this game was going to be about the trials and tribulations of some poor folks.... Kenny (from South Park) and his family????

In a sense, no where near the scale.

I played around for a bit, was lagging bad though... couldn't tell if it was the server or my end...

Seems like it could be fun though, a lot more complex than your average FPS which is just run n shoot (Sorta like how Quake Wars was with objectives/vehicles etc. it seems like)
 
It's crashing on me when it gets to the "Press Any Key" screen. Anyone else?
 
The fix for that is to open your sound properties and change the sampling rate to 48000hz or lower. Fixed it for me.
 
Made up some system settings with another Fileplanet account. Entered my CD key, and it says my login I use for my Fileplanet account is invalid. If some no name developer can't manage to make it to where I can log in, it's not worth the effort. Waste of time, uninstalling now.
 
LOL, you were not allowed in the beta, so you then made a second account and lied, and now you are not allowed in again and that is because of some "no name" developer can't figure out how to make a login?
 
Guys, the NDA you agreed to when you signed up for the game says that you are only allowed to post impressions on the beta in the beta forums.

Also, no screenshots and videos under any circumstances.
 
Well I give up.

I was accepted into the beta, but when I try to download the file, file planet asks to install some download manager but it freezes when I click allow, every time. I have tried on two different systems running different operating systems and completely different hardware.

File planet is fail
 
Works fine for me, kinda like tribes, but not as good, more like halo 3+tribes I guess. Fun game none the less.

use your fileplanet login you used to sign up with..

eg.. fileplanet login is: blahblah@whocares.com
your login for the game will just be blahblah

They put their beta on fileplanet not sure if they actually expect people to follow that NDA lol.

Now... how is it? Is it console-ish or it's PC-ish?

they can ban me from the game for all i care.. but the games designed to look console like and also directly supports the xbox 360 controller.. if you go into the control settings.. theres actually a tab specificly for the xbox 360 controller settings.. but with keyboard it still plays like any other FPS..

Nuff said. Another crossport pos. Make it for a console or make it for a pc. Do both and watch it suck.

My pc did not meet their lofty requirements either. My 280 Gtx, 9450, 4gig sys mem, just doesn't cut it anymore huh?

You do realize that all "Games For Windows" certified games are required to support the xbox 360 controller, right? It has nothing to do with being a port, it has to do with getting the Games for Windows stamp on the box.
 
Login to gamespy.com with your fileplanet ID. then it will ask you to make a nickname on gamespy. use the nickname you make to login into the game. if you READ the email it says

"Step 3: After entering your key, please log in using your GameSpy ID and password."

Also the game runs great performance wise so the whole console port argument is absurd. Its a fun game so far but is still beta. As far as not meeting the requirements, maybe you have the wrong OS or put in the wrong specs by accident. i put in the wrong cpu and had to use a different account to put in the right cpu then I got in.

I read the email, I'm attempting to log into the game using my gamespy ID, it's not working. Period.

Edit: Got it to work, I changed my Gamespy nickname to something else then changed it back. Now it'll let me log in. Looks like their servers failed to sync until the nickname changed forced them to.
 
I just made some shit up to log in and it worked but I didn't use an email address, just a name. A lot of hoops to jump through just to play a game though. The game is pretty generic so you guys are not missing much.

yeah the performance isnt bad.. but it needs AA.. thats the only thing its lacking.. if it had AA support.. the game would look awesome..

section 8 = UT2k4 + halo
