Hi folks. I am preparing to build a PC for the second time (and the first time in 5 years) on Tuesday. After careful consideration and some heavy advice from this forum and HardOCP's reviews here is what I have selected:
NZXT Tempest case
Intel QX6850 CPU (Paid $240 through a special retailer program)
PC P&C 750W Quad Silencer Crossfire Edition ($100 after rebate!)
Asus P5Q Pro mobo
LiteOn 22x SATA DVD drive
4 GB DDR2-1066 OCZ RAM
2xSeagate 7200.11 500GB HDD
Windows XP Pro (and yes I know it won't use all 4GB of RAM)/Vista 64-bit dualboot
Xigmatek 1283 CPU cooler + bolt-thru kit
Either a 9800GTX+ or a Radeon 4850 (will purchase next week; using a 8600GS in initial build)
SB X-Fi ExtremeGamer
Generic internal card reader
I plan on using it for Photoshop, perhaps HD video editing in the future, mainstream gaming (Oblivion, Mass Effect type games) , music, Blu-Ray playback and the usual web browsing, office type stuff.
I hope to avoid major upgrades for at least two years, barring perhaps a new video card.
What do you think? Any good advice on the building process?
Thanks for the help!
Fenian
