Hello,

I saw 2 PSUs today, both are identical except for:
ST-400H1U and SS-400H1U.

The SS-400H1U is listed on the Seasonic website, while I cannot find any reference for the ST version, other then a few vendors selling such a device. (UL page, too)

They are both the same, and I'm not too sure on what is the difference!

Thank you,
-Jeremy

Whoops, sorry Danny Bui,

I bought one, the ST-400H1U, then I noticed the Seasonic website makes a refernece to a SS-400H1U.

They are both on this UL page:
http://database.ul.com/cgi-bin/XYV/...n=versionless&parent_id=1073787374&sequence=1

and the SS is here:
http://www.seasonicusa.com/1u.htm

I just cannot find the ST on the Seasonic site, but it's there, on the UL page! Is it an older revision? Or just a bit of wierd Seasonic nomenclature?

Thanks!
-Jeremy

p.s. this review was the final deciding factor, along with some encouragement from the HP Slimline thread we have.

Apparently Seasonic used to use SS and ST to distinguish between the noise levels of different PSUs. ST was the louder version. I don't think it'll make a difference in practice though. Go with whichever one is more convenient for you.

HaHa. Thanks Zero82z. I'm a little late for that! :) (purchase made this morning, only noticed the different model prefixes just before I made this thread).

I intended a 60mm fan case mod for this PSU, already.

I was very concerned SS and ST meant differing qualities/purposes.

These are both 1U server PSU as far as I can tell, and I only saw reviews for the SS variant, so I thought ST meant rebranded units (after checking Seasonic's website and only seeing the SS)...

ST = noise, huh? Did they remove the 'silent fan controller' part? (not that it would matter... those are 2 40mm buzzsaws designed for server use, anyways).

Oh, well. I will keep everybody (who cares) updated in the HP Slimline thread (where I frequent, due to both of the system's in my signuature...)

Thank you!

p.s. If anyone has any differing viewpoints on this, I'm all ears.:)
