I'm looking to buy a new 200 GB SATA drive. I can't decide on the new Seagate Cuda that is supposed to be the first 'true' SATA drive, or the reliable Maxtor Diamond. A lot of people are liking these Diamonds, and these Cudas are supposed to run pretty hot. Any suggestions or experiences somone would like to share?
 
Seagate HDDs are at least as reliable as Maxtor ones, and more silent.
 
Get the Seagate 7200.7. Pretty fast, quiet, cool and reliable.
 
go with seagate. ive had too many maxtor drives crap out on me...

1x 10gb
2x 40gb
1x 60gb

i have hitachi drives now and they are running great and i havent read anybody having any problems related to the deskstar days. but i would be perfectly happy going with seagate, i was originally going to get 2x120gb seagates instead of my hitachi's
 
I'm not going to say either way, I don't think.

Go check out the performance database and the reliability survey over at www.storagereview.com. You'll be able to get a pretty good overview of both drives there, with a lot of user's experiences. :)
 
seagate. the 200sata's are just over 140 at newegg, and it's a great deal on some fast quiet disks. check out storagereview though. they do good reviews.
 
between the two probably a seagate


I'm loving my WD2000JD SATA Western Digital though :)

Been running strong for over 6 months now, and quiet also
I'm still surprised in how quick it is.
 
The Seagate IMO.
You might consider the MaXtor MaXLine III with the 16MB buffer, but the Seagate is probably a better buy per GB at this point.

(t)hom's has a review of the 200GB 7200.7 Plus here. Sequential reads and writes appear to be very good, and the drive appears to run cooler than the MaXtor DM9, the HCHI 7K250 and the WD 2500JD.

I hope StorageReview tests one soon.
