Seagate FreeAgent Pro esata issues...

I believe they sent out a batch of these with bad cables.

I have bought 2 Seagate 500GB pro, and neither have come with an eSata cable (which i find to be very shady) so i bought my own. I'm pretty sure its software issues/drivers, but i was wondering if anyone found a solution to a driver problem with this drive.

I tried to load the Seagate tools, which wants Net Framework 1.1 and it won't install....well actuall it installed, but when invoked, it calls for Net Framework 1.1 (Vista has NFW 3.0) and just stops.

I think I have found the problem,,,,, Memeo, which is part of Seagate Tools for the Free AgentPro is not copatable with x64 ..... arrgh!

So, now that we know that, is the a good external backup drive (and software) that is x64 compatable?

A back-up drive is just an internal drive in an external case. Buy any HDD you want, and put it in a decent external case. The Antec MX-1 is a great case that can be found on sale for @ $40.00.
For a back-up image program, Acronis True Image has saved my buns many a time. I use it with XP Pro, but it says it's good for XP Pro 64 also.
