Right now I have a therm. big typhoon in my case with a celeron o/c'ed to 4ghz running at about 40 c.

I saw some posts about the scythe getting some amazing temps with conroe, how would it compare to what i already have? Is it worth throwing another 35 bucks down and getting a new fan or should i just keep what i already have.

I just installed my BT, it kicks ass

Opteron 148 @ 3ghz 1.6v (1.4v stock)

30c idle, 39c full prime95 load

I mean, wow

I'm going to put a Pabst Ultra High speed on it as soon as I gather up $15.

One thing to consider, though, is that the Ninja can direct hot exhaust out of the case, whereas the BT throws it back at the board.

Not really

The air that the BT puts out is cool to the touch. Even the heatpipes stay generally cool under full load.

Additionally, the BT cools the mofset really well. I had a 8c drop in mofset temps after installing the Typhoon.

awesome, i guess ill leave my BT in when the conroe comes. glad i don't have to spend more money

I would imagine that the BT may perform better than the ninja because the ninja really needs to be lapped..

Once I lapped mine I saw even better results.. (ninja that is)..

Also, the ninja has more cooling pipes than the BT if I recall. That is why I went with the ninja over the BT.

BT sends the hot air out of my case, since I had to cut a hole to fit the side panel back on since it was about 10mm too tall.,

Oops, didn't read OP carefully. Yeah, if you already have the BT, stick with it. No point spending money on a near equivalent.

lol :)

When I ordered it on newegg, there was only the picture of the hsf with no item to show a comparative size. I had no idea how large the unit was until I recieved it. I was like, "OMG, this thing is huge!".

Ditto on that comment. I knew it was a 120mm fan, but when I got it, I was wondering how I was going to fit it in my case.

Is the Big Typhoon better than the Zalman 9500? I have store credit at CompUSA so I have to pick a cooler that they carry, and they have both the big typhoon and the Zalman 9500.
