I got a new mb, asus p5gd1, good mb. i have a feel questions about it, why do mbs still have ps/2+lpt+serial ports, aren't these old? how long until they stop making mbs without those old ports?

q2, sata2, what are the new features on sata2 and specs anyone know?

Does anyone use floppies any more? Not really. Yet they are still around. Old technology never, ever, ever goes away completely. There is always someone hanging on. Heck, my keyboard is a PS/2 keyboard at that rate.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the two big selling points are improved speeds (3.0Gb instead of 1.5Gb) and NCQ.

thanks for reply.
they could use the space for more usb ports!
about sata2
that's all? if that's it i'll keep my sata1 for a while longer.
what's ncq?

My computer has 8 USB ports. I only use 3. One for my mouse, one for my printer, and one for my digital camera. I think 8 USB ports is a tab bit to much. 6 USB ports I can see but 8 I cant see. Im sure there are some people that use all 8. But im taking a guess here, most people do not use all 8 USB ports!!!!

This is my count of USB devices currently plugged into my computer:

1) Mouse
2) Printer
3) Thumb drive
4) Scanner
5) External HDD
6) MP3 Player
7) Card Reader
8) 4 port Hub on Dell 2001FPD
**1) Gamepad
**2) Gamepad
**3) Gamepad
**4) Gamepad

I have seen quite a few people that have 6+ USB items plugged into their computers at one time. I say get rid of the parallel and serial ports, but leave atleast one PS/2. I love usb but I still shudder at the idea of using a USB keyboard.
