SATA Power Adapters....

I'm going to have two SATA hard disks in my new system, and I don't want to have to use those four pin -to- 15 pin power adapters. Could I remove my molex ends and put on the 15 pin ends without having to cut or solder...? Just by using the molex removal tool?

I'm under the impression that it would be easy to remove all of my molex ends on the power supply, sleeve up the cables and then if I wanted to put back on uv-r ends, all without cutting or soldering; and this wouldnt be that hard to do. Correct?

I was going to purchase a http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-153-015&depa=0 (TT 560w ps) because It already came with sleeved cables and two sata cables, but I want uv-r sleeving and uv-r ends. I questioned why I was going to modify an "already modified" PSU. I want to do everything that this ps comes stock with, I'm just questioning the ease of this project.

Thanks.

I do not think SATA connectors use the pins like the normal Molex connectors. If you don't want to use the legacy power connector or an adaptor, your best idea is probably soldering. Besides, the SATA connector has several ground lines as well, so even if it did use pins, it would be different.

There *is* a IDC style crimp SATA connector out there, I saw a pic of one on ocforums one time, but the supplier was never found. So, if you can't find one of those in mouser or something like that, you'd be better off using those adapters, but not with the plugs. Just cut off the molexs off both sides, solder the wires together, and it'll be hidden under the sleeving.
