Thinking of upgrading my Hercules Radeon 9800 Pro to something in the new ATI X800 class. I am leaning toward a card made by Sapphire. Any opinions or experience with these cards? I like the fact they do not come with a bunch of games and stuff. Just the card, cables and drivers. Probably not going to overclock it or anything. This will be the final upgrade for the 875/AGB system. Not going to jump to PCI express till later.

I have no insight into Sapphire cards, but have always wondered why they seem to have 3-4 versions of the same card, all within a few dollars of each other. Makes me wonder if there is any difference in the models (ie 128bit vs 256 bit, memory speed/quality ect). Anyone have any input on this brand?
 
As far as I know, Sapphire's cards are the 'official' ATi cards, so they're from the same factory as built-by-ATi cards (there are some more, eg Club3D also sells the 'official' cards).

We use sapphire cards almost exclusively for our non workstation ati solutions.. I haven't had a SINGLE card go belly up yet...

For our workstations, we use BBA cards

[that's if i'm using ati, of course]
 
Have a Sapphire 9800 Pro, works great. Average OC capabilities with stock cooling.
 
i have a sapphire x800xt pe .. and it's working perfectly fine ... no issues what so ever ..

the reason for the price diff. is because they sell cards seperately and retail so if u don't need the extra stuff u can pay less ..

I have a Sapphire x800 pro vivo. The one with the blue pcb. It flashed to a xt pe no prob. I did have to put an Arctic SIlencer on it. You might be able to find it in stock, although the demand for these is as high as it is for the real xt pe.

ZipZoomFly has them in stock. Mine will be here today!!! :D
 
$530 for such a card aint cheap, and ZipZoom usually like to fleece on such orders. I would look on forums for used Sapphire X800XT cards and skip such fleecing.
 
Like I said, forum hunting is much more worth it than buying from fleecers like ZipZoom. Thi sis the only area I can discourage ZipZoom for, they always love to cheat people on new tech.
 
well since mine should be at home when I get there, in what way should I expect to be cheated (at the very least, preparing myself for dissappointment)

30 dollars more than the msrp isn't thaaat bad ... i mean you are getting a card that people are having problems getting and if you can afford it and really want it then you should get it ... when it's $50 or more then that's when it starts getting ridiculous

I can name hundreds of ways u can spend $30 on a few hours ... but when someone want's to use it to get a video card people start complaining ...

SHUTUP and let the person enjoy his card

Zipzoomfly has two different x800xt-pe on there site can any one tell the difference between the two? It looks like they are both x800xt-pe's but I can find any info on the card priced at 509.00 besides it being a bulk card that seem to be the only difference . I am moving from a ti4600 and 510.00 is a lot for a card just want to make sure I am getting the right thing .Question to any one who has this card does it come with a stock cooler or will I need to go with the artic cooler for this monster ?

nope .. it's sooo ez .. I almost remove and place it back on once a month .. only thing is if you want your own ramsinks you'll have to use ati's brace and make sure they're cooling well


other than that it's pefectly easy .. it fits like a charm

they sell a "light" version of some of there cards... its a smaller box with no bundled games or anything... kinda like an oem version

The reason its only $530 is because its a BULK OEM card. It doesn't come in the retail box with software and stuff. I think it still carries the 1 year warranty from Saphire though.
 
sorry if this seeems rude, but their RMA sucks...when ever i called i was greeted by a asian person who i could barely understand.... i gave them my email address(4 of them..i called 5 times in total, the 5th time i got a form at my 4th email addres..) and finally got a form, my emails to sapphire tech support i got ignored after i sent them the receipt... they said it will cost me 15 dollars and take 3 weeks to get a replacement once i get a rma number...which im still waiting on... if you think you will ever RMA i wouldnt reccomend a sapphire card...
 
I have a x800xt(non-pe) from sapphire and its fantastic

Just found this out too

My card uses those chips

Samsung K4J55323QF-GC16 256 Mbit 1.6 ns uBGA 144

Which are apparently rated up to 625mhz (500mhz stock) so once I slap some ramsinks and my DD Block on there I think theyll be some nice oc'ing happening
 
I've had no problems with my Sapphire 9700 Pro. It's been running rock solid since March 2003.It overclocks nicely too if need be.
 
Got a Sapphire X800XT for $599 CDN about 4 months. Came in a "retail box" as such that I got a couple of games + driver disk and all the VIVO stuff.

Pretty sweet deal if you ask me, and the card has been working flawlessly ever since :)
