Just a quick question for people who might have RMA'd with Sapphire before.

Just bought a 7970 from sapphire, and living in canada they tell me to contact rma@althon.com

Anybody have had any past experience from them? I've owned a lot of sapphire cards before but never actually had to RMA anything, so some information would be nice.
 
rma@athlonmicro.com is where i rma'd when I did twice.

I usually call them to start out, they ask for invoice (both the cards were previously owned)
I send them a pic of the invoice, they accept and start rma, they send you a form via email, you fill it out send it back and then you get your rma number.

GET TRACKING OR delivery confirmation. When it get's there, call them.
Seems to move them faster LOL, I am always polite and nice though, they never gave me a reason not to be. I've had 10 day turnaround from them. One card was a ref 4890 and they sent me back the pimp daddy toxic version.

Hmm, I already ordered it, was looking for MSI but couldnt find them, and asus was overpriced by $40!:eek:

I had a choice between sapphire, powercolour, gigabyte, and HIS, i went with sapphire, hopefully it isn't the wrong one, as i've never had any gpu issues
 
Sapphire is a pain with the warranty sometimes, they will try to get you to go to the retailer first before giving an RMA. Huge PITA.

Out those you list I've had the best experience with gigabyte but that was 5+ years ago, who know how good they are now.
 
Sapphire is ATI/AMD direct OEM for video cards. When you are dealing with Sapphire you are dealing with AMD.
 
well try to rma an evga products. after registering their products they also want a proof of the receipt that you purchased the said product. thats what im going through right now. i purchased ftw 750i back in 08 and registered the product but didnt realized that i had to also scan the receipt. so now im hoping that i can go back to the company and have them look that far back. dont know if they will or not. guess just registering is not good enough any more..

No they are not. Sapphire is owned by PC Partner (like Zotac) and is a Hong Kong electronics and hardware manufacturer. They are one of several AMD OEM partners but you are not dealing with AMD in any way. Sapphire was just one of the choice AMD partners back in the day when AMD couldn't get many resellers to sell their brand.

I found that was one of the side benefits of doing most of my tech shopping online anymore and avoiding the big box stores - the last time I had to pull a receipt, looking through 3 years of invoices on newegg or amazon in a matter of minutes was extremely conveinet.

x2. Remember the 9800pro...reason you could get the sapphire or the ATI.

my last ATI card was the X1900...so no help there, but I did RMA my sapphire 9800pro, but that was to the egg...so no problems!

If your really worried, get the warrenty at the egg.
