So in under 2 yrs mines died twice and i hate it..has anyone else had any issues or problems? Lost video dispaly twice and the fan is loud and rattles its Stock btw..never been oced...what card\brand do you guys have

I assume you RMA'd the card for repairs?

If not, that would be a good idea.

I have had several Sapphire cards.........all fine.

As far as AMD is concerned, I buy Asus if I am looking to buy. Second choice a tie between MSI,Sapphire and XFX......depends on price.

Is it reference or non-reference? If it's reference that's unusual and bad luck. If it's non-reference then it doesn't surprise me. Sapphire can't make graphics cards for toffee.

my 5870 is PowerColor with an Asus BIOS.....its been overclocked and generally beat on for it entire life....but its water cooled , so it never gets too hot.....that being said I have had no problems with it

Same card here. I am having some ANNOYING driver issues for the first time ever with ATI. Running dual monitors, I get some tearing, artifact, frame blinking crap, for instance when I scroll or move a window... aperiodically. I am using Sapphires own drivers, the latest version. This only happens in extended desktop mode.

No probs with fan or general performance. Doesnt run hot either, not even after hours of Metro 2033.

To OP: What power supply you using? When you say died, you mean no video at all or is it artifacts on the screen. If it's artifacts on the screen that might be related to drivers, overheating, or power supply.

Never had a radeon overheat due to overheat, only shut down. It's usually only faulty cards that will artifact when they get hot.

Hmm, is a reference card. Unusual to get faulty cards, but then I don't know what Sapphire give out in terms of returns, they may just give all the cards with intermittent faults they haven't had time to diagnose as replacements like EVGA do, in which case small wonder. I generally try and avoid using Sapphire where I can.

There is nothing wrong with Sapphire as a GPU company.

They are in fact (as of last check), the largest maker/sipper AIB partner of AMD.
I think I've had at least 5 Sapphire GPUs and they were all just fine.
I did have one fail, a non-reference 4890 Toxic variety. I RMA'd it and the replacement is going strong in my HTPC. You can see how it went here: http://hardforum.com//showthread.php?t=1537380

If you are having problems, start a support ticket and send it in, simple as that.
No GPU company is bullet-proof.

had my 2GB VaporX for nearly a year with no problems.

If you include the 5850, then my xfx 5850 has been experiecing random GSOD since day one and finally kicked the bucket this week. Card was bought in Nov '10.

Not to high jack this thread, but since other Sapphire HD5870 owners might look here, what driver version have you people found to work best? (I am having some driver issues with Sapphire´s own drivers...)

You had a non-ref card and it failed. How many of the 5 'just fine' cards were reference?
I used to trust Sapphire completely. At the time I was blissfully unaware it was because I had all reference hardware. The fact that the $1000 4GB HD5970s were not even QC'ed once before they left the factory is unforgivable, and shows how much care and attention Sapphire pay to quality. It also helps explain why so many Vapor-X cards go down the pan, over and over again.

I haven't had a sapphire card in many years but each and every one I owned died prematurely for no good reason and they would never honor warranty or it died right after warranty.

Yep, mirrors my experiences pretty well. Not testing a £120 HD3870 I can perhaps forgive. Bragging that you hand-test your £850 flagship product and then not even giving it a single quality inspection before packaging is an absolute disgrace.

What proof do you have of this accusation? Or did you just read this on the internet, so it must be true?

Of the 5 Sapphire cards I've owned other than my VaporX 4890 three were reference and two were Sapphire modifications.........all QC'd and all working fine.

Because I had two of them, both DOA, and one of them in such a manner that it could not possibly have been tested (shorted out the PCIe slot).

So you're saying that because one card you owned was DOA, there is total lack of quality production at Sapphire..........GTFO.

I have no loyality to Sapphire or anyone else for that matter, but your statement is pure bullshizzle.
