Samsung 275TPlus Discussion

275tplus is a great monitor. great color great picture quality. highly recommended.

Will this monitor run older games in 4:3 with nvidia cards? The scaling options on my 245bw are all greyed out in the nvidia control panel.

Yes, either via the scaling setting in the menu or by changing the default setting in the Nvidia control panel

HTH

Thanks for the response. The 245bw's lack of scaling enrages me. I've gotten it to work a few times with nvidia's overscan registry hack but having to reboot to play a 4:3 game (if it works at all) is just the final straw when added to all the other TN shortcomings.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the 275T and the 275T Plus? The only difference I can see is the HDMI port, am I missing something?

That sounds right to me. I was looking at the Plus because it offered two digital connections (1xDVI and 1xHDMI) but I needed them. The original 275T is still somewhat available, and likely a bit cheaper so if you only need one digital connection, the regular 275T should be fine.

Hi,

I prepare to buy good LCD at big size (like 26" or 27").
Sasmung is one of my candidate to chose, but I don't like LCD screens like mirror (named Crystal Birte etc.).
I know that they have got better colours but reflecting everthing in my LCD is more irritating.

Is there any one who can tell me what type of LCD screens.
Is screen of 275T+ like Crystal Brite or just 'mat' ('dull', 'brushed')??

Please replay.
Thanks in advance for any answer.

Piotr. :)

Can the others who own this monitor comment on its input lag? In Windows, games, etc

Alright, I'm going to Futureshop right now pick it up.... I also got a CRT to test it with, but I've never done it before. Any tips and stuff?

Luckily, if the input lag pisses me off, I can get a full refund no questions asked.

According to TFTCentral.com, the 275T and 275T Plus use the same panel (27"WS Samsung S-PVA LTM270M1).
HDMI seems to be the only difference.

Now that I've decided that gaming at 2560x1600 would require more video card than I want to pay for, I'm really leaning towards a 275T. tddirect.ca has it on sale for $771 with free shipping right now.

Ok, I've been using the monitor for about a day now, the input lag is still there, but it's actually much better than the 2408WFP. It even somehow feels better in 2D games with mouse, like Starcraft.

I might, MIGHT be keeping it, if I can't get the Doublesight.

Hey lobski,

If you want to test input lag it's fairly simple.Start your computer with both monitors connected to each vid card port and then go into the control panel and set the monitors to "clone" mode.

Go to flatpanels.dk and download "inputlag.exe". All it is, is a timer with big green numbers. I would try and set both monitors to 1920x1200. The CRT may not do this resolution, but theoretically it should allow "panning" from the highest resolution. The timer of inputlag.exe goes down to milliseconds (the furthest number on the right).

You can get the Inputlag.exe program here:

http://www.flatpanels.dk/monitortest_inputlag_dk.php

Once you have the program showing up full screen on both monitors, grab a digital camera and turn the flash off, and if you can control exposure set it to some speed like 1/240 or at least 1/120 (if you can). You can use flash if you need to but it may make the photo hard to see as light disperses on the anti-glare coating.

Run the program and take a few photos and see if one monitor has a higher number than the other. Theoretically the CRT should be faster which means the number should be higher (ie. further ahead). The difference in number is the number of milliseconds the CRT is ahead.

Take the 15 or 20 you can read, and average them out. This will give you the average input lag.

Hope that helps,

I have the 275tplus and it is a beautiful monitor, it has all the inputs you need and the color is fantastic. I don't think there is any other 27 or 26 inch monitor on the market right now that has better performance than this one.

Seconded. The 275T Plus is one the best if not the best 26-27" LCD on the market.

Can anyone comment about the vertical viewing angle from below? Suppose you mount this on a wall, above your head, do you see any distortion in the contrast/brightness as the angle from the monitor to your eyes goes downward?

I have the 2693 (25.5 widescreen), and it distorts right away when veiwed from any angle lower than level with the monitor.

I need to educate myself about LCD panels. I have the Samsung Syncmaster 213T and is has a very wide veiwing angle. My new hm2693 does not. How do I tell what type of panel is being used in the 213T vs the 2693?

I gather that a TN panel will not have a good viewing angle - how many different types of panels do they make? Is there a website that explains this technology so we can make better informed decisions?

There are some other technologies like S-IPS or PVA, MVN but they have longer response time and this panels are oftenly used in professional monitors;)

I realize the stand that comes with the 275T does not rotate, but, has anyone mounted the panel on a wall in the portriat position? Would it overheat and void the warranty?

Viewing angles are top notch but there is some color shift thanks to its PVA panel.

I bought this monitor a couple of weeks ago and the colors are just great.
I am a big gamer and I have to say I have no ghosting and feel no input lag in games like Battlefield 2, battlefield 2142, Halflife 2 and a bunch of other steam games.
I do feel a little mouse lag in Left4dead in Vista 64 but here is the strange part if I boot into my windows 7 RC1 partition and fireup l4d all the lag is gone it feels CRT like I don't understand it but it works fine. I was thinking about returning this monitor because l4d is the game I play the most right now but for some reason Windows 7 seems to resolve the issue. You will not find a monitor that gives you a better picture overall. Before anyone returns this monitor due to input lag try installing windows 7 on another partition of slap a harddrive into your machine and load it up. The games look amazing on this monitor you will love it.

Since this thread has already been brought back from the dead, I figured I would chime in.

I have a 275T (not the plus version) and this is still by far the best moniotor I've seen/used.

I use it for gaming all the time and it's perfect. I'd say it's the perfect size for sitting in front of and playing games and web surifing alike.

I've had mine for about a year and a half and I got mine for $899.99 CAD. Now, local stores don't sell anything that even comes close to this thing! Pretty much max size available locally is 24" and they are all crappy TN models.

I'm very happy with this display still.

OK I figured out why I felt lag in Vista and not windows 7. I had Vsync turned on in Vista and not in Win7. Once I corrected that setting in Left4Dead in vista all the mouse lag disappeared. Wow I am surprised I did not see that before. I am very picky about video lag and can feel it in a game when most would not. I can now say this monitor is a Great gaming monitor in Vista and Windows 7 I feel no input lag and have zero ghosting or smearing. I wanted to get an H-IPS monitor but my eyes are very sensitive to the screen door effect they give off. That is why I had to get a DLP TV when I was in the market for one last year. The S-PVA panel does not have this flaw. BTW I did not see this thread was so old I am sure anyone who was posting here returned it already. Oh well better late then never. :)
