Samsung 275T?

After discovering a bunch of stuck subpixels on my LG W2600HP, which I just got back from RMA as the last unit I had had excessive backlight bleed, I'm thinking of sending it back for a full fefund. I don't think I want to be a part of this silly LG panel lottery -- their QC is just unacceptable.

So anyway, I'm looking for a new screen again. After seeing what S-IPS can do, any TN based solutions are completely out of the question for me now. I'd like 26" or bigger, IPS or *VA, low input lag and a decent price. I've been looking at the Dell 2709W, and it seems like a great monitor except for that dreaded input lag. So I guess I can rule that out. I then came over this Samsung 275T, which I assume uses the same S-PVA panel as the Dell, and according to Prad it has an average of around 30ms input lag. I think I could live with that sort of lag, especially considering my old Samsung TN screen has an average of 45ms and I never really noticed it.

I realise this screen isn't the newest of the bunch as it came out a couple of years ago, but the same can be said about the NEC 2690WUXi which seems to be well regarded around here. I've been looking at that too, but for the price I can nearly get a 30" screen and I'm just not sure if it's worth it for me. 30" is also an option, but 2560x1600 scares me, even though my main computer has a HD 4870 X2 in it.

So anyway. What do you think? Is the 275T a worthy purchase? I haven't seen much talk about it around here. Any other suggestions or ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yes it is worth it.

It's a nice screen, but not the same panel as the 2709W. It's a slightly different version according to TFTcentral.

Samsung SM275T Plus 6ms G2G 27"WS Samsung S-PVA (LTM270M1)

Dell 2709W 6ms G2G 27"WS Samsung S-PVA (LTM270CS01)

You would end up with the Plus model these days. I don't think unless there is old stock that the original 275T is easily found. The Plus is the same screen with more inputs.

Thank you for your input.

You don't happen to know to know what the difference between those two panels is, if any? As for the input lag, I just can't get any wiser. Prad reports 33ms average, but I've seen alot of posts on this forum where people complain over that it's very bad? Have you tried the monitor yourself, so you can give any insight on that? I've spent the better parts of the day looking at every single option available, and I have to say I'm a bit disappointed over the availability of higher end displays on a general basis. There are a few very nice and super expensive Eizo and NEC offerings, but apart from that it's pretty scarce.

Thanks again!

Another option is to step down to 24", where the NEC MultiSync 24WMGX³ suddenly becomes an option. I have to say it's tempting to get something that has proper blacks, good backlight uniformity and close to no input lag. I'll lose 1,5" in the process, though.

Any thoughts?

Do a search for the 275T. I know there's a huge thread on that LCD somewhere around here in the Displays forum. You might want to check out the Dell 2707 and 2709, too.

The Dell 2707 I can't find for sale anywhere (discontinued?). I would love a 2709 and I would most likely have gotten one if it wasn't for the dreaded input lag. It's a shame because except for that the 2709 looks like a superb screen! I play a fair amount of games so I'd like the input lag to be as low as possible, hence my interest in the NEC 24WMGX³ . But at the same time, I don't really like the thought of losing 1,5" from my LG as I watch alot of video content as well...

Or even go completely bananas with the Eizo SX2761W. Been reading Prad's review of this thing and I think I have found my dream monitor. It has everything I want, and even a low input lag of 22ms, and that's with using the same S-PVA panel as the Samsung 275T and Dell 2709W. The price is a bit scary though.

I have had my 275T for almost a year now (original version, not the 275T plus).

I absolutely LOVE this monitor. Input lag has never caused me a minute of trouble in any game I have played.

This monitor truly looks better than any other monitor I've seen/used. Granted, I haven't used some on the high end NEC etc. displays that are out there but it's a great display and I highly recommend giving it a try.

My display has the best back light uniformity that I've seen, blacks are very good in my opinion. The pre-set brightness modes are convenient but you can customize the display and calibrate it to your liking etc. as well.

Oh yea, this display can do PIP which is pretty cool if you hook a cable box etc. up. I love having the PIP going while I'm surfing the net etc.

Oh, here's a rather long thread where people have shared their opinions about this display.

The following perfectly summarizes my experience with the 275T.
