I am helping a friend OC his XP 2600+, but I have only overclocked on AMD64, so I am not sure what kind of voltages he should stick to. He has a Volcano 12+, so heat should not be a huge issue ATM, I jsut dont know what is safe for not frying the chip. I know on AMD64 you really dont want to go above 1.7, but I thought it was higher on XP. Woudl he be safe going up to 1.8-1.9v?

max voltage on a 2600+ (barton or tbred - doesn't make a difference) is 2.0V. i'd stick with 1.8 or 1.9, though. just to be extra-safe.

although really, an athlonXP is usually safe to 2.1-2.2 with good (water) cooling.

I would only go above 1.8 if you have really good cooling. Those things get pretty hot at those kind of voltages. I like to keep mine no higher than 1.725. Also, high voltages lower the life of the processor.

i keep mine at 1.9 just becuase i dont want to have to deal with the possibility of instability and end up having to swith it back form 1.97 to 1.9

but yeah under 2 volts is safe
