S939 overclockability?

I'm considering upgrading my current S754 setup (2800+ @ 2.3GHz) to a S939 3000+. I'm eyeing the Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9 motherboard. Price is right, and it has PCI-x which is what I'm really looking for.

However, I don't want to sorta 'downgrade' my processor. Would a s939 3000+ be able to hit 2.3GHz+ do you think?

Socket 939 A64s are great overclockers. Especially 90nm models, which also run a nice bit cooler. A 3200+ is already 2.0 GHz and should hit 2.3 no problem.

atm, my 3000+ is doing 2.25 GHz w/o breaking a sweat. I've heard of people getting them up to 2.7 on air. It's one hell of an overclocker. You won't be disapointed.

I'd look into the NF4 Ultra instead of the 4X you get with the Gigabyte. Prices are around the same.

I can only get my Winchester 3200+ to 2.3ghz stable on a Neo4 Plat SLI. Not sure if the newer chips don't OC as well as the older ones  .

i've got a 3000+(939) @ 2.6GHZ never goes over 95F with my xp-90. Its real good for overclocking. I just bought mine like 3 weeks ago, and I swear i see people with 3000+'s getting better overclocks than the people with 3200+'s. You need a badass motherboard to be able to withstand the high FSB overclock though, mine is at 290mhz.

my 3000+ is chillaxin at 2.47ghz, i can prolly push it a lil more but i'll wait for water cooling

just get the xp-90... water will not cool it down THAT much..
and yes overclocking it to 2.6 easily on stock cooling... its really sweet!

Get the OEM and buy xp-90 or xp-120 which ever u prefer! :)

lol u dont need water cooling.....my 3000+ is at 2.6ghz on stock cooling and i get 32*C idle and 40*C load.....

i would personally reccomend the fx55 if you got the cash, unlocked multipliers

idk i didn't think about that, i have the stock heatsink.. has anyone tried to replace the HSF on those? it looks so small to me..

K8N Neo2 platinum
0447 a64 3200+ overclocked to 2.6
I've been hearing rumors that the newer 3200+ winchesters don't overclock so well though. So I guess you'd want to find one made after 04-44 and 0501 or there abouts.

I can barely get my 3000+ higher than 2.0Ghz without it freezing. I'm using stock cooling at the moment.

What on earth am I doing wrong?
