Ryzen 9 3950X vs. Threadripper 1950X

i have a 1920x and i built a 3900x for my mate late last year, cinebenched both of them. 1920x scored ~5500, his 3900x scored ~7300. There is no contest, 39xx destroys the 1st gen parts and its a real shame that 1xxx/2xxx TR owners don't have an upgrade to 3xxx

The difference with Handbrake is not as big as I thought. I did a test with someone who has a 3950X. Encoding an x264 1080P MKV video clip to MP4 using Handbrake at very high quality settings was only 8% faster compared to my 1950X overclocked at 4.0GHz. Encoding an HEVC 4K MKV to MP4 using very high settings was 24% faster but still not enough to justify spending any more $$ to switch over. These huge performance differences between the two must be in gaming or other applications.
