Rumor Has It

I'm so frickin happy about this turn of events.:D Clubit.com was/ IS my favorite etailer. Great customer service; good prices and no restocking fee for those buyers' remorse purchases I make occasionally. :D:D

Dont fuck with disgruntled employees, I guess they were taking home their severance package from the store shelves, lol.
LOL. True but highly illegal.

We will probably some geeks going to do some jail time for stealing something dumb like memory or CPUs.

Better not drop the soap in the showers. ;)

While they appear to be going back online somewhat, I would consider ordering from ClubIT/PC Club online right now to be a bit risky. They're on my avoid list until some stability is shown.

Yeah, I wouldn't personally order anything online for at least a few weeks heh. Not like I buy much from them anyway (first and only purchase so far was my MX Revolution).

yeah i would be cautious with purchasing anything from clubit with rebates. many rebates are filled through them directly.

I'm really happy for the employees. Hopefully this means the end of forced overtime, crappy pay, and bad management. I'd always say back in the day, a manufacturer's warranty was quicker and easier than PC Club's since they had no concept of time with customer's stuff.

I still celebrate the end of the Asian Invasion that was PC Club's management and hope they all take a long walk off of any pier. I really hope that they didn't make out like bandits and lost money from PC Club going under like this because they deserve it in my opinion. If they re-open any of the old Arizona stores they closed after Jackson died, I may go back and check it out. I always refused to give any money to the clown shoes operation they became without Jackson. Maybe they can repair the reputation among customers as a ripoff artist company that doesn't care about customer priorities or employee happiness.

As long as the atmosphere of the "corner PC Shop" stays intact with a renewed interest in system and product quality control, adequate inventory for all stores and treating customers and employees right, they may have a chance. It was a good place if you could keep management and home office out of your business and away from your customers.

That's a relief. The people at the PC Club I go to (Westwood, CA) are really good guys, some of whom have been there almost ten years.

The old PC Club mission statement from when I worked there:

"To focus on customer values by offering quality computer products and services in the most effective and innovative way to computer professionals."

It used to mean something at one point, but I never saw it mean anything to corporate other than a slogan. I hope they make it count this time.

To the new owners:

Bring back Jackson's dream and make sure to "make it a better day, every day" as Jackson would put it.

I will buy something just for the hell of it from PC Club. Personally, I dont like to see anyone out of a job like that - thank God for new ownership and please sell me l33t goods at great prices.

off their threads - verbatim.

"

... PC Club might not be gone after all. They will annouce more information as they get it.

I think the new owners don't know yet on how to post new annoucements yet for the site so it would be old news for now.

It is also unknown if all stores will be re-openned

"

another one bites the dust

Welcome to the thread?

I'm very happy to hear that things worked out. I know that the friends I have there love(d) their jobs and I'm glad that they are able to go back to them.

If you don't want to believe that PC Club is reopening. I challenge you to call me tomorrow morning. I will be filling in at the Burbank store while the Burbank managers and some of the staff takes the day to digest the news and decided if they want to come back. I will open the doors for business (credit card/debit card/checks only) at 10:00AM PST. Ask if I am there.

Burbank's store number: (818) 526-8988

Well that's just great for us east coasters who don't have a PC Club within hundreds of miles :p. ClubIT's selection looks a bit sparse at the moment, especially the motherboards section. I'll wait off until they get some more stock back in. I also don't want to be the first person to buy from them right now, until I know for sure they've gotten everything sorted out (especially their warehouse and shipping staff).

Why would anyone be "scared" of buying anything in the store? You buy it, you get the receipt, and whatever happens you still get a good deal, and there is always at least a 1 year MF Warranty. I don't get what all the fuss is about. I will buy there starting today. There's no reason to worry, especially if you buy in the store.

I have got my fingers crossed that PC Club does actually reopen. Down here in South Orange County, we don't have any other good alternative buy Fry's. I have about 75 computers or so that I mangage in the field and many of them are still under warranty from PC Club. I'll drive by the Lake Forest store later this morning and check it out. BTW, some other computer place posted thier ad on the outside window at the Lake Forest store yesterday and made it appear the they were being endorsed by PC Club as an alternative. I went there and saw an about 200 SF office with no PC's. Yeah real good alternative.

Haha, the same thing happened to my old manager yesterday. Apparently, PC Laptops (crappy company in my opinion) was looking to acquire PC Club's assets. They just "happened" to be next door at Quiznos when he walked up to the store to change the sign on the door. They said something to the effect of, "So we heard you guys closed." He replied, "Nope. You heard wrong."

So someone at another store can confirm this, but from what's trickling down from the top, as we know the old owners tried to file for Chapter 7. Their lawyer told them, ummm...no, you can't do that. You only qualify for chapter 11. They didn't want to do that because they wanted the money, so this guy who I guess is one of PC Club's vendors bought the company. Someone who's been selling to PC Club for over 10 years.

At any rate, they are back. I just called and they answered. They said so far most people didn't even know that they had closed. Go ahead and call the closest one. They're BACK!!!

Looks like this story has a happy ending, Clubit.com is back up at least.

Now someone get the new owners to open a store on the east coast

Good news , but now they dont have want I want any longer :( (TT 850 watt ) .

Anyone else find the site being slooooow as hell ?

Thats the first true press release I have seen in my 3 years with the company.. maybe this firm will actually know how to run a business in the US.

My God am I tired. I was in the Burbank, Westwood and Anaheim stores today. I can and will confirm that most stores opened today regardless of the enormous logistical challenges (our keys were FedExed to the lawyers office on Tuesday night). The last of the stores should be opening tomorrow. We are being told that we might see new product in our distribution center as early as the start of next week but more realistically the end of the week. I was told today that a very large single order of systems was placed to our factory today by a store along with a lot of individual systems which shows the loyalty that PC Club customers have. We appreciate every one of you more than you would believe. Please bear with us a little while longer while we get back to business as usual. I do know that some store's staff, including some my own, have found jobs already and we will miss them. Some stores will be short staffed for a while. If anyone is looking for work in the Anaheim or Burbank areas, I can confirm that hiring is a top priority of myself and the manager of Burbank. Please come see us with a resume if you are interested. As for the other stores that I can not speak for, please visit http://www.pcclub.com/careers_listings.cfm and submit a resume there. Thank you again for all the customers who visited us today and for everyone else, we look forward to seeing you soon.

A better day, every day - Jackson Lan

My store is up and running and mostly business as usual. We are low stock at the moment, but that will be reversed ASAP. We value all of our customers, and appreciate the loyalty we have been shown. I got lucky, in that my staff all were excited to have their jobs back, so we are fully staffed. Aside from this bump in the road, PC Club has really been good to my staff and me, and we enjoy our jobs. We enjoy helping find solutions for our customers, and providing them with a service that no etailer nor warehouse retailer can. Thanks for your patronage and continued support. :)

Can anyone confirm how much of the management has been changed out from this at corporate? I'd hate to think the same Taiwanese D-Bags are in charge that couldn't manage a dog park, let alone a retail chain have their jobs back as well.

I came back to work on Monday. This May is the 16th anniversary, so its great that PC Club is reopened for business. We are under new leadership and face a very optimistic future. There are some great things for PC Club coming soon that I can't discuss yet. Look for some really great news in the next 6 months.

Good news. The people at the Westwood store are a bunch of good guys who have been there a long time, and I'm glad they've still got their jobs.

why dont you guys open a store in Philadelphia.... THERE IS NO COMPETITION HERE AT ALL.... i dont get it.. the first city in the nation with city-wide WI FI and no computer store within the city limits

I will, it would be cool if they had mini cookouts at PC Clubs for Geeks to Congregate at. ;)

QFT. I think anywhere in the Northeast area could be huge. All I have around me here in Massachusetts are Circuit City's and Best Buy's. They're ok if I can get a good deal on something I'm looking for, but otherwise I usually don't bother. If a PC Club opened anywhere near me they'd definitely get my business.

That's because in Philadelphia the store would say "C u IT" because people stole letters from the sign. Phillie (downtown at least) is very sketch.
