Im buying a new powersupply soon. I was wondering if Rosewill PSUs were reliable. Im not looking for anything high performance, just something thats going to run my box. The price range and features are right.

Im gussing that Rosewill doesnt actually make their own PSUs; are they rebranded PSUs from a brand that doesnt have a very god reputation?
 
It might run it, but the question is how long and how efficient. Honestly PSU is the one thing many overlook, but yet is one of the most important parts of the system, it powers everything. Don't go cheapy on one, look at good brands such as Antec, OCZ, Enermax, Forton
 
Okay, after more research, ive decide not to get this PSU.

I know the Fortron Bluestorm hasnt had the best reviews, but I think it will suit me welll.

Who gave it a bad review, and more importantly, were they real reviews?
 
oh man, it was a while ago. it wasnt a bad review per say, more that it didnt live up to the fortron name. i may be mistaken though

What went wrong with it?

I bought the 500watt one and am having some voltage irregularities with it. I didn't expect it to be very good, but I was on a budget and didn't have $100 for a PSU.

I have a 500W one and my 12V rail is running 12.5V. Not sure if this is the cause of system instability with anything over 210FSB. I decided to bite the bullet and get the OCZ Powerstream 520W.
 
So far mine's been relatively stable. When I run the FSB over 255 is when I get stability problems. I'm also running 4x 120mm and 2x 80mm fans so I think the 12v rail starts to crap out on me and that's what the problem is. My mobo doesn't monitor 12v and I've been too lazy to hook up my multi-meter to make sure.

I recall that review
it was for the Blue Storm's 400 watt liitle brother
the reviewer really didnt have a clue, but felt that the lack of massive heatsinks, and the "extra room" in the supply must not bode well compared to the Fortron 530's beefy package

what he failed to understand was its a modual type design, that room is fully occupied in the Blue Storm 550, and the efficiency of the 400 watt and the 550 is considerably greater, thus no need for the massive heatsinks as less waste heat is incurred.

all in all another clueless review, but it did afford us the first glimpse under the hood of the new line

its a damn fine supply of basic compliance for the money
again a top "value" choice and an affordable and reliable entry into an ATX12V v2.0 supply
strong but not a super tight or clean high performance supply

I particularly like the part where he realizes he's been inadvertently overloading the +3.3V\+5V rail for 20 minutes without any issues :p
(double its rated capacity :eek: )
