Hi, as you've seen in the title, I am an art student. Do not have any experience in DIY. Do not know which hardware models are good. A friend recommend me this site says that guys here are cool and willing to help. Thanks!

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming: Diablo 3, 2k12, COD, NFS, PES2012
Photoshop/Lightroom/Video Editing
Writing fictions

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
1,000 USD
After tax and shipping

3) Where do you live?
LA, CA, where Newegg sales tax happens.
Is it a better choice to turn to Tigerdirect and Amazon?

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc.
CPU, CPU Cooler if necessary, MOBO, HDD, SSD, RAM, Video Card, CASE, PSU, DVD, WIFI-Adapter

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
A 23' emachine monitor (want to buy another used monitor on craigslist)
A microsoft curve keyboard (want to buy a mechanical keyboard)
A gaming mouse
Ah yes, a mouse pad!
A headset...
And also want to buy a JBL Creature 3 speakers on Amazon for 62. Any better recommendation on speakers?

6) Will you be overclocking?
Want to learn but I am an absolutely rookie now. Maybe OC a little.

7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
23', want another smaller one

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
August,2011

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? etc.
Reliable, supports SNB. Cuz I wanna a 2500k or 2600k if budget allows.

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Yes. 64bit Win-7

Definitely buy from Amazon as Tigerdirect sometimes kills some of their deals via their shipping costs to CA.

You're planning this build a little soon then. Our recommendations changes from month to month. Please come back in August and ask for advice then. You'll get more up-to-date advice that way

Looks like you posted this a few days ago, just saw it. As someone else already said, things change month to month, sometimes even week to week, as new stuff is always coming out.

With your budget, and need for a new monitor, you may want to check out AMD's new APU (socket FM1). You'll certainly have enough money for everything you need and still be able to do somewhat decent low end gaming.
