those GT scores are damn impressive, especially in far cry IMO.. hl2 is so CPU bound tho...

can you compare the SLI 6800nu with just a single 6800gt...?

thx

Not to this extent- it took me a hours to run those benches! (they are run at least twice and averaged) Any specific ones you want to see?

Also- Firing Squad has the only 6800NU review on the net where they do exactly what you're after:http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/msi_nx6800/

AFAIK- this is the only comparison of 6800NU SLI and 6800GT SLI on the net.

This just makes me wonder what the point of 6800nu SLI is. I have slightly overclocked 6600GT's in SLI and bench about the same or better with a similar setup (see sig).

You can't run 16X14 4X8X on 6600 GT SLI, OCd or not. There isn't enough memory. I would agree that up to 12X10 2X(maybe 4X)8X they are pretty similar.

http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/msi_nx6800/default.asp

Also, you have to start with stock clocks. My 6800NUs report 413/817 as "optimal", I'm guessing that would be a big boost over the 325/600 I ran these benches at as well. Not everyone will void their warranty and risk their hardware by OCing.

Dude, where do you find the time to do all those benches! I admire you.

That makes sense, but the way I figured it (when I got my 6600GT's) was that most people aren't going to shell out $500 for a 1600x1200 LCD and will probably stick with a 17 or 19" LCD running native 1280x1024 which the 6600GT should handle easily.

Didn't we do this before in another thread? :) And yes, that OC would probably turn the tables significantly.

It seemed familiar- but you did ask the point of the NUs, and that would be it. :)

I have a NEC FE2211SB 22" CRT- so I can do 16X12 at 85Hz, very usable for me. (I can even squeek the 19X14 at 72Hz if I push it, I think that did used to be VESA standard?)

I HAD to "steal" your 6800 SLI scores.

I only have two 6800 SLI scores now, including yours.

I have almost the exact same system as the original poster does. My benches on my dual 6800GT setup are exactly in line with his.
