Anyone buy this? I just picked it up for $12... Pretty much Red Orchestra 2 w/ flamethrowers and banzais. I still love RO2 though and I hope this would bring more players.
 
I think it would get more attention if they labelled "Red Orchestra", usually when I see a new FPS with bargain bin pricing I pass it up. I think many people will overlook this, even fans of the RO series.
 
I will be picking this up, I liked RO2 and this looks to be more of the same. Hard to go wrong for only $12.
 
Gah. I thought it was going to be a free mod, it seemed like it was going to be from the start, then they suddenly announce it will cost money. Does no one make mods for free anymore? :p

It seems interesting and it's not that overpriced (unlike this was going to be free game). But i'm not sure how big the userbase will be or how long the userbase will last.

They are giving out 2 extra beta keys to people who pre-purchase. It seems like they are trying to get the word out as much as possible on this one. I'm a longtime Killing Floor fan and I am loving Rising Storm so far. The weapon physics are worth it alone.

Exactly why even at $12 I can't justify the price.

To be honest I think the long time fans are more or less gone.

It was a mod that would become a paid addon if the quality was up to par, which apparently it was. I guess given RO2's launch and that Rising Storm still has many of the same bugs and issues it was not hard to get up to similar "quality". :)
 
Bought this as soon as I could. Tripwire will always get my support. They make great games and are excellent with their community communication.
 
I like it better than RO2; more players, and I think the maps are much better. Still awaiting IC to be finished.
 
I can't get into playing the Japanese.

I guess I'm just a Russian or German at heart.

what??!!? japs are the best. their smg is probably the best in the game and banzai charging around stabbing people that are unloading into you is super fun
 
Definitely liking this more than regular RO2.

Flogger, in the main RO2 thread, summed it up pretty well though.

If you didn't like RO2 you probably won't like RS.

The maps are much better (imo), the new weapons are fun, and the gameplay is about the same. The Japanese voice actors also aren't terrible like I was afraid of.


I'm seeing more texture pop-in but that may be because there's so much more foliage. I'll look at ini tweaks to fix that. It's annoying zooming in with your scope and having a bush pop out of nowhere. Latency also still seems to be an issue on 64 player servers. I'll join a server with 50-100ms ping on the browser but there's still quite a bit of server lag and my in-game ping fluctuates way too much (usually from 120-180 whereas most other games are around 50ms or less).

I also agree with his point about weapons being balanced and not realistic. But the Japanese were outclassed by American SMGs and semi-auto rifles so I can understand why they did this. It'd be nice if they could find a better way to handle it.

Hmm, I may have to grab this. Love me some RO, and havent really had much time to play RO2, but still fun.
 
If you get it Snappshoota make sure you choose to play as the Japanese first for epic running sounds.
 
I've grown to like RO2 thanks to Rising Storm. Still not as good as the first game though.
 
I like Red Orchestra 2. I couldn't get into Rising Storm.
