LP, IIRC, go towards your various skills and not your stats. You need to speak to trainers to use them, everything you learn costs a certain number of LP.
Thanks for the reply !
I've been playing for about 4 hours and all my skills are still at the first "dot" ? I've leveled up 3 times and my guy is still weak and shit and I have a bullshit sword.
The quests really don't tell you what to do, just a board idea of what what to do.
This game sux...Should have torranted it first before I bought this junk![]()
In the port town ... he's someone that you save in a quest along the way so be patient. You really don't have to start mining until later in the game anyways. This game is a wide open world but is very linear unless you want a difficult time. If you follow the story precisely the difficulty is balanced but if you try to step away from the story then you'll have a hard time with combat.Wheres the trainer for the prospecting gold and ore ?
I pissed of Boager (I think thats his name) and now he wont talk to me..lol
The pace of the game is just to slow for me. Seems like all this talking and running from monsters for little reward ?
Where D3 at dammit !?![]()
I think your 'supposed to' go to the monetary after you do some of the Ranger quest. Then Harbor town ... I did the monastery last and all of the monsters on the way there were the stuff I was facing at the beginning of the game.Ok heres wheres I'm at. when I first went into the swamp camp, I went into Bogars hut and stole some beer and now he won't talk to me, so all the quests that involve him I cant do anything with like:
Bring him his food...
Fight him...
Get his gold piece of the sword
Some other shit with the hunters as well...
I just went onto Harbor town cause I was stuck at the Swamp and couldn't complete the quests.
I don't wanna read a walk through cause that spoils shit. I just wish the quests were more defined on what exactly you have to do, instead of a idea
All this talking to NPC's is so fucking boring !!! Theres like 15+ different people to talk to and they all have a shit load to say.... Wheres the combat in Harbor Town ? Handing out meds, investigating the break-ins blah blah blah....Holyshit this is slow...
Do you guys actually sit there and listen or read all the conversations ? I don't have the time for that shit and I'm falling asleep !
There were very few combat situations in Harbor Town. All this talking to NPC's is so fucking boring !!! Theres like 15+ different people to talk to and they all have a shit load to say.... This isn't the only path through the game.Shore->Ranger Camp-> Monastery-> Harbor Town
Risen doesn't "hold your hand" the way some other games might. Yes, you can "screw up" and have parts of the game locked off - but it's all part of the game. .

I know but based on difficulty of enemies encountered along the way, it's the most logical to me. It's absolutely not the path I followed. I did shore->rangers->wander around for a week dieing a whole bunch until I got around level 15-> Harbor town->MonasteryThis isn't the only path through the game.

Oh for those who don't know, a patch was recently released, 1.10. It fixes that annoying bug where you go into doors and appear on the roofAlso a bunch of other bugs.

hehe! There is a difference between "holding [ones] hand" and having the feedback of a cold, dead, lifeless hooker, though.![]()
I agree it's a better game but your crazy if you don't think Risen is also a good gameSo I been playing Dragon Age instead !
Way better gameplay and graphics
Fuck Risen !
For an RPG, when it comes to combat, the game is pretty twitch action combat oriented.. The combat on Easy in Risen is harder than the hardest setting on most action/RPGs. Especially since gaining a level gives you like, +6% HP, and for the monsters it's more like +1000%.. Plus the harder a mob is, the more likely it is to be chained to a horde of friends.
It's a fairly sadistic game in the combat department, just like Gothic 3.
I love RPGs but I hate when they require world class action gaming skills to play. I admit it.. I'm pushing 40 and my action gaming skills are only going downhill.
That being said, barring Gothic 3, I've never had such problems with the combat in an action/RPG as I have with Risen. I think they did a terrible job with game balance.. The first mobs I ran into took 3 or 4 hits to kill, and gave me 50xp, and would do about 10 damage and only came one at a time.. Then the 2nd level of mobs I run into take 15+ hits to kill, do over 20 damage when they hit, come in pairs or more, and give 60xp per kill? Bleh! I'd hate to see the game on Hard, do you just die in 1 hit? And to boot when I finally learned how to dodge, it seems like if you can get just 1 mob on you, and dodge it 100%, the next mob is automatically adjusted to you and change it's attack pattern... And if you have more than 1 mob on you, forget about dodging, because while you dodge the mob you are in combat with, the other one will chew out your asshole in just a few seconds. I apparently just lack the reflexes to deal with that.
GAH!!
At least the game has an easily accessible god mode.
