That link explains everything :)

Any lens 20-80mm would be well suited for it, the wider the lens the more magnification you can get but the closer the focussing distance. If you're using the built in flash anything wider than around 28mm is very hard to light due to how close you have to be to the subject.

I would also recommend a diffuser for the flash, I personally use a copy of the very good Gary Fong Puffer but I'm not sure if these are still available... something about copyright, patent infringement

I have one on my kit 18-55mm lens from my XSI, its fun and amazing how close one can get, only down side is the DOF is so shallow without anyway to change the F-stop. Otherwise its a lot of fun.

You can change the f/stop, fit the lens as you normally would, in M mode set the aperature to f/8-f/16. Hold the DOF preview button and remove the lens. Job done.

i had some trouble when i tried this getting the pictures to be focused, heres a pic of a branch thing , i know its not great, took me 2 sec, but look at weird focus? :S, how can i fix this?

I so have to try this! My last lens acquisition was a slightly old-school 24mm F/2.8 AF that has manual aperture selection (so I shouldn't need to pull the hold-the-aperture-preview trick to get it set up). If I understand the above info, this should provide some very nice focal-length and focus-distance.

I'm very curious to see how this compares in quality to my 90mm macro. Does anyone know where I can get info on what the equivalent focal-length of a reversed 24mm would be?

...now I just gotta find out what filter size that lens uses to get the adapter ring for it.

Best way is to take a picture of a ruler :) I reckon it will be about 1.5:1 (14-16mm should fill the entire frame).

alright - looks like both my 24mm and 90mm use 52mm-filter size, so I ordered two different adapters to play with:

52mm to F-Mount to try the 24mm by itself,

and 52mm to 52mm to try stacking the 24mm on top of the 90mm.

This should be very interesting! I'll be sure to post examples once they come in and I have a chance to try them out.

edit: also decided to order an extra rear lens cap - going to try and mod to use as a makeshift lens-hood so my cpu-contacts don't get screwed up while shooting reversed. Anyone know of a product that's actually made for this purpose? maybe an actual F-Mount fitting lens hood? :p
